I purchased this lense at the same time I purchased a Nikon D5100 camera. I have been pleased with the speed of automatic focus feature. I use this lense to capture my kids playing sports or dancing.

I got this lens as part of a package along with a 18-105mm lens. I'm finding that I tend to use the 18-105 a lot more. The 55-200 gives a bit more zoom but to keep it light it is quite a bit smaller. Still seems like a good lens and the package made it a great deal. I'd still recommend it but if I were saving up to buy a lens independently I might consider holding out a little and consider something a little faster and maybe with a little more zoom.
