The D600 is Nikons most compact and lightweight full-frame (FX) DSLR. Despite its smaller size and price, the D600 rivals any professional-grade DSLR, including the D4, in both capabilities and performance. The FX format means that virtually any Nikkor 35mm lens, DX lens, or FX lens fits and functions to get the best shot in any situation. Added to this dynamic full-frame SLR is the best of the best from its Nikon siblings, like built-in TTL speedlight, incredible HD video, and fast autofocus.
Scene Recognition System with 3D Color Matrix Metering II
The Scene Recognition System uses a 2,016 pixel RGB sensor and analyzes all aspects of each scene and compares figures to similar scenes in a giant database. All of this is done instantly, capturing action and vivid colors.
Just as in still photography, the D600 provides a range of video recording choices between fully automatic and manual control. 1080p, 720p, and smaller formats are available, and constant autofocus keeps video sharp. The built-in microphone is always ready, and the D600 can be supplemented by an optional external stereo microphone.
Built-in flash with TTL speedlight command capacity
The built-in flash has a variety of settings, including curtain synchronization, red-eye reduction, slow synch, and more. In addition to its many uses as a stand-alone speedlight, the built-in flash can also serve as a TTL speedlight commander. Up to two groups of external flashes can be coordinated and controlled.
WiFi transmission from the D600 to another device, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone is possible via the optional WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter . The adapter plugs into the D600 and enables file transmission to another device or attached to email. The adapter also enables a smart device to function as a remote camera monitor.
Unrivaled Lens Compatibility
The full-frame (FX) D600 can be used with virtually any Nikkor lens made for 35mm film cameras, and it can also use the DX lenses made especially for Nikons smaller processor DX SLRs. Virtually any Nikkor AF, AF-I, AF-D or AF-S lens made since the mid-1980s works flawlessly with the D600, and older manual focus Nikon F bayonet mount lenses also work well, even with full metering functionality.
EXPEED 3 Image Processor
This is the same processing method that Nikon perfected in its professional-grade D4 SLR. It delivers fast, true images in both still frame and video. With supercomputer-like speed the Expeed 3 image processor handles multiple processes simultaneously to deliver superior color and tone.
