Coupled with a do-everything zoom lens, the D7100 leaps forward from the D7000 with new features such as a 51-point autofocus system, stereo microphone, OLED data display, larger LCD, and a 24.1 MP processor. Retaining the D7000s indispensable features, like dual card slots, user-defined settings, and a magnesium alloy body, the D7100 brings together all of Nikons best imaging tools. And with the D7100, images can be still or incredible HD 1080p video. Whether the goal is capturing memories or creating art, the D7100 is ready.
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
The 5.8X zoom renders stunning telephoto shots yet can still capture close-up shots at focal distances as low as a foot and a half. In-camera Vibration Reduction (VR) compensates for camera shake and delivers sharp images even at maximum telephoto. The DX lenses are designed for the DX cameras, and dependable Nikkor construction keeps the lens convenient in size and light in weight.
51-point autofocus system
A new 51-point system with 15 cross-type sensors gives the D7100 autofocus capability every bit as fast and sharp as any professional-grade DSLR. Even at 6fps the autofocus is accurate, and the low-light capabilities are astonishing.
Optical Viewfinder with OLED Display
Inside the optical viewfinder, an OLED displays shooting data. The OLED display is dramatically clearer than previously used LCDs, and the D7100 is the first SLR to employ an OLED.
Built-in flash with TTL speedlight command capacity
The built-in flash has a variety of settings, including curtain synchronization, red-eye reduction, slow synch, and more. In addition to its many uses as a stand-alone speedlight, the built-in flash can also serve as a TTL speedlight commander. Up to two groups of external flashes can be coordinated and controlled.
Just as in still photography, the D7100 provides a range of video recording choices between fully automatic and manual control. 1080p, 720p, and smaller formats are available, and constant autofocus keeps video sharp. The built-in stereo microphone is always ready, and the D7100 can be supplemented by an optional external stereo microphone.
External controls for multiple User Defined Settings
With the User Defined Settings feature, photographers can save often used settings and access them without ever having to navigate a menu. The U1 and U2 settings located on the Mode Dial can be set up in the menu and accessed externally thereafter.
EXPEED 3 Image Processor
This is the same processing method that Nikon perfected in its professional-grade D4 SLR. It delivers fast, true images in both still frame and video. With supercomputer-like speed the Expeed 3 image processor handles multiple processes simultaneously to deliver superior color and tone.
