The Cricut is a great machine but it does not cut through the variety of materials that the Big Shot does (you know chipboard, which we are always wanting) I thought when I got my Cricut I would not want this but I find myself turning to it all the time!

After reading through all the different reviews, I finally decided to get the Sizzix Big Shot. First of all, it is visually appealing compared to the other machines that also have the same function. I was able to use the embossing folders from cuttlebug with no problem at all! I do like playing with it and coming up with more personalized crafts. It is very sturdy. The only con that it has is that the word "sponge" was spelled as "spounge" on the product packaging, but that provided a few minutes of amusement. Overall, I think this will be one of my favorite crafting tools.

unit is stable -- no tipping on your work surface.
Although this is a safe product (no blades), caution should be used when "little fingers" get near the rollers.
The large dies are awesome! I've been crafting for over 15 years and the Big Shot is one of my
very favorite purchases.

from Florida on 6/6/2009While the Cuttlebug is great, the Big Shot wins hands down because of its versatility. The Big Shot is also easier on my arthritic hands. I can use all of my Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders with the Big Shot plus I have the option of larger dies, including some very cool boxes.

from texas on 5/29/2009This die cut machine is the best you can buy. I have been waiting to buy this. Easy to assemble-just add the crank arm. Very sturdy when turning the die through the machine. Works with most die cuts from other companies-thick and thin. Not very heavy and has a handle, so it could be taken with you to a scraping meeting, etc. Great that is comes with the multipurpose form and plate.
from Peoria, AZ on 5/21/2009My Big Shot was so easy to use from the moment I took it out of the box. I had used it at a Stamp-in-Up Party and fell in love with it. It doesn't slip around when you are using it and has a very sturdy handle to hold onto when you are turning the handle. I am able to use this with Sizzix products as well as Cuddlebug products. It is so much fun to use and some of the cards I have created have turned out awesome. It is great for home use. I wouldn't want to take it cropping because of its size, but I cut out the items I want prior to my cropping night so I can be organized.
