Sekonic L-758Cine Flash Meter Features:
The Sekonic L-758Cine DigitalMaster is the ultimate light-measuring tool for cinematographers and videographers as well as digital still shooters. Offering the most extensive range of fps (frames-per-second), cine shutter speeds, and shutter angle settings, it meets and exceeds the demands of Professional Cinematographers and Professional Still Photographers.

The key to precise lighting and great exposures is understanding the dynamic range of your camera and calibrating your meter to work with it. Long a time-consuming necessity, Sekonic has automated the process to one that takes just minutes. Sekonic's DTS Version 3.0 enables measuring the dynamic range of your HDSLR or Digital Video Camera and calibrating a Sekonic L-758Cine DigitalMaster meter to that specific data. Precise metering has moved to a new level of excellence.

The automated process requires recording images of one of Sekonic's Exposure Profile Targets or one of X-Rite's ColorChecker series targets, available as a separate purchase. Once recorded, the processed TIFF or JPEG image files are imported into Sekonic's DTS software for processing and mapping. Measured data from industry-standard targets can also be entered manually.

After processing, a USB cable is used to transfer the data to one of the Sekonic L-758 meters. Up to 3 camera profiles can be stored in the meter. Any number of profiles can be stored with the software.

Once loaded, the Sekonic L-758Cine makes incident and reflected-light, spot readings that are precisely tuned to the dynamic range of the profiled camera.

  • Determining Dynamic Range with Exposure Profile Targets (separate purchase)
Make tests under daylight and studio lighting. For HDSLRs and cameras with a dynamic range under 7 stops, use the Normal Mode for a 3-shot bracket (-3EV, 0,+3EV) of the Exposure Profile Target II or ColorChecker Target. Select Extended Mode for a 5-shot bracket (-8EV, -4EV, 0,+4EV, 8EV) for cameras that have a greater dynamic range. Make a spot reading of 18 percent reflectance tone and incident reading in front of target and record data. Shoot the bracketed shots based on incident light measurement. The Sekonic Exposure Profile Targets and Xrite ColorChecker targets are available as a separate purchase from your local reseller.

  • Entering Data
Download test images into computer. If shot in RAW, convert to TIFF or JPEG for computation. Use Normal mode for cameras using shutter speed settings or Cine for cameras using frames per second and shutter angle. Enter ISO, incident, and reflected light shooting data. Then select and align images for processing and press OK to watch the Sekonic Data Transfer Software program graph the dynamic range of your HDSLR, Cine-Video camera. Save the data for transfer to the L-758Cine.

  • Programming Meter
Switch OFF L-758Cine. Connect it to the computer with USB cable and switch L-758Cine ON. Select up to three camera profiles. Press transfer. Switch OFF L-758Cine, disconnect, and switch ON to begin using.

  • Full information Spot Viewfinder
The 1-degree spot meter has a broad reading range from EV 1 to EV 24.4 (0.07 to 190,000 FL). Its large, bright viewfinder with diopter correction and fullinformation data display give you everything you need to make the right exposure decisions without having to take your eye from the eyepiece.

  • Memory Mode and Latitude Display
Up to nine readings can be memorized in incident or spot metering modes. An indicator appears on the analog display each time a measurement is memorized andthe total number of memorized measurements appears numerically on the screen.Memorized readings are retained when switching between reading modes. Thisprovides a fast and simple way of retaining and analyzing shadow, mid tone andhighlight exposure readings. Digital readings can be recalled and/or cleared at anytime for precise exposure control.

The dynamic range of your digital camera or film can be programmed into theL-758CINE to create a Latitude Display that mirrors the range of your system. This important guide will let you know when readings fit within the latitude of yoursystem and when they are outside the range.

  • Contrast Function
The contrast function switches the data displays to a simple, direct EV readout to enable measuring scene brightness and create lighting ratios faster than ever before.

  • Incident Light Metering
Measure the key light and press the AVE/EV button. Press the measuring ..button to read the fill light and the digital display instantly switches to EV to show the brightness difference with tenth-stop accuracy.

    Reflected Light Spot Metering

Establishing scene brightness has never been this simple. Spot meter a highlight ..area and press the AVE/?EV button. Then measure the shadows to instantly see the difference in scene brightness without ever taking your eye from the viewfinder.

Press the memory button to compute an averaged mid-tone and display all three readings on the dynamic range line of the L-758 CINE's analog display. This quick and easy method gives you all the information you need to make every exposure decision.

  • Dual ISO Settings
Dual ISO buttons enable quick adjustment of exposure when working with two ISO speeds and making adjustments for filter compensation or calling up one of seven commonly used Wratten filter factors.

  • All-Weather Design
All buttons, switches and compartments are sealed and the meter housing has been designed to endure rugged outdoor conditions. Ideal for location shooting, in rainy or humid environments.

  • Optional Radio Flash Triggering
Simply plug the optional Sekonic RT-32 Transmitter Module into the battery compartment and wirelessly trigger flash units up to 100 feet away. The transmitter offers 32 digital coded channels and Quad-Triggering Zones andis compatible with PocketWizard radio triggering systems, as well as the PocketWizard Wireless Freedom partners.
