Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8 D Prime Lens

Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8 D prime lens has a super fast aperture of f/1.8. The focal length of 50mm is considered as a standard prime and is suitable for landscape, street photography, portraiture and also group shots. A 7-blade diaphragm creates excellent soft out of focus background (bokeh).

Affordable, fast f/1.8 prime lens with manual aperture control.

Offering natural image rendering and exceptional sharpness, the AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D is a versatile, affordable prime lens. Extremely compact and lightweight—it weighs approximately 5.5 oz (155 g)— making it a convenient carry-around lens for nearly any shooting opportunity. Its aperture control ring enables smooth manual adjustments during Live View shooting, making it a great video partner, too.

The precision of a prime lens

Natural, exceptionally sharp images

The AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D is as versatile as it is compact—perfect for travel, portraits and general photography. Its fast f/1.8 maximum aperture creates an attractive natural background blur (bokeh) and enables great low-light shooting. Produce consistently stunning visuals, indoors or out.

Performance in any light

Fast enough for low-light shooting

The AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8D is fast enough for shooting in most lighting situations without a flash—from dusk and dawn to dim indoor lighting. Its aperture control ring allows for manual adjustments during Live View shooting. Broaden your shooting opportunities.

I bought this lens for just general snapshot type use. Indoors and outside. I got it because it is lightweight and easy to carry instead of carrying around the heavy lens that came with my D7000. So far, I am very pleased.

Comments about Nikon 50mm f/1.8D Nikkor AF Lens:

Given the low price you wouldn't think that this is a very good lens. The reality is that this is one of the sharpest lenses you can get for a Nikon camera at any price. Unlike the newer and more expensive 50mm lenses, this lens has no visible distortion. Unfortunately, this is not a very rugged lens, and certainly not a piece of equipment you'd want to bang around a lot, but if you're one of those people who obsesses about image quality and have a budget to keep, this is a must have lens.

Great lense for the price, it takes great shots but i am a little dissapointed that the AF feature does not synch with my camera. It is difficut to manually focus every time you move. This I do not like when trying to get children who move a lot. But all and all for the price it was a great deal, the shots are beautiful with a very nice blur to the background. I just cant wait to get a camera that it is compatable with.

I'm new to using a DSLR. I wanted this lens to use in low light on my D7000 and to have something lighter than the kit lens it came with. So far I've been very pleased with it. I've taken close ups, indoors and out, as well as snapshots in various light, and landscape pics and they've all turned out very well.

The lens provides great bokeh and is awesome in low lighting, especially for cameras that are not great in low light themselves. Consistently, when just shooting around for fun, my friends ask to see pictures i've taken of them and are amazed at how naturally professional the photos look
