Nikon is pleased to add another level of strength to its assortment of high performance D-SLRs with the introduction of an all-new 12.3-megapixel DX-format camera.

Fusing 12.3-megapixel image quality inherited from the award-winning D300 with groundbreaking features, the D90's breathtaking, low-noise image quality is further advanced with EXPEED image processing. Split-second shutter response and continuous shooting at up to 4.5 frames-per-second provide the power to capture fast action and precise moments perfectly, while Nikon's exclusive Scene Recognition System contributes to faster 11-area autofocus performance, finer white balance detection and more. The D90 delivers the control passionate photographers demand, utilizing comprehensive exposure functions and the intelligence of 3D Color Matrix Metering II. Stunning results come to life on a 3-inch 920,000-dot color LCD monitor, providing accurate image review, Live View composition and brilliant playback of the D90's cinematic-quality 24-fps HD D-Movie mode.

Nikon Digital SLR Image Quality
Exceptional image quality is a prerequisite for all Nikon D-SLRs, and the D90, featuring a new 12.3-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, fulfills that essential performance requirement with ease. Borrowing a host of technologies, including low-noise, high ISO performance, from the award-winning D300, the D90 will change the notion of what's expected from an enthusiast D-SLR.

New D-Movie Mode Features 720p HD Cinematic Quality
The D90's creative potential explodes with the capability to record smooth 24fps, motion JPEG sound movie clips. Leveraging the D90's 12.3-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, legendary NIKKOR optical quality and the one-button Live View function, the D-Movie Mode gives still photographers a new and exciting way to express themselves in 720p HD.

Comprehensive Feature Set
Compact, yet powerful, the D90 captures up to 4.5 images per second. Accurate 11-point autofocus is now even faster and more intelligent, aided by Nikon's exclusive Scene Recognition System. The unique Nikon 420-pixel 3D Color Matrix II Metering system, now enhanced by EXPEED image processing technologies, delivers extraordinary exposure accuracy-immediately evident when reviewing images on the D90's super-density 3-inch 920,000-dot color LCD monitor.

These are just a few of the highlights that make the Nikon D90 the Nikon D90. The more you learn about the D90, the more you will agree that it offers more of what today's passionate enthusiasts demand - delivering it all in a D-SLR that exceeds expectations.

Comments about Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera (Body Only):

I've owned this camera since Dec 08 and its been a pleasure using it daily. I own a D100 and D40 and D90 sure surpasses both cameras by leaps and bounds. With a high speed card and battery grip I can shoot in high speed and not worry about the memory buffer catching up to the card like I do with the D100 or D40. I have used a Sigma 55mm-300mm and Tamron 19mm-55mm lens with the D90 and auto focus was very fast and accurate not like the D100 and as you know only certain old lens work with the D40 in AF mode. The only bad part is the there is no continous auto focus in movie mode and you are limited to 5 minute movie clips. But as a Digital SLR this camera is hard to beat. It's even better than the D300 for the price that you pay. I am really happy I chose the D90 instead of the D300 for an upgrade of my old D100 and D40.

The Perfect DSLR
By Thomas Pellatt PhotographyVerified Reviewer from Davenport, IA on 8/30/2009

Comments about Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera (Body Only):

Perfect size for a do-everything type of camera. Sling it over your shoulder for travel or random events and you hardly know it's there. Yet its small size does not hinder its powerful photographic abilities. Works just fine for weddings, portraits, etc. Movie mode is fun but takes time to master the manual focus requirements. Take time to get your pictures right before and while you shoot because the vivid LCD screen can be deceiving, making any poor shot looking amazing. Ability to focus non AF-S lens is a real plus.

Comments about Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera (Body Only):

This is a follow-up to my first posting. After almost a year, I have developed an unbelievable fixation on taking pictures using only available light because I believe that capturing objects in natural light would preserve its integrity and the D-90 makes it all possible. I am a wanna-be photographer but nevertheless, my camera is the best thing I have ever bought that would help me translate what my interpretation of the world is.

Comments about Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera (Body Only):

I compared the D300 and the D90 heavily before purchasing the D90. The only differences I could find were:
1. size (pro for 90)
2. # of autofocus points (con for 90)
3. bracketing mode only takes 1 over, 1 under w/ 90 vs. tthe D300 does two on each side.

The biggest pro is that it is the same sensor! Read the reviews, it's a no brainer.
I love my D90.

Comments about Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera (Body Only):

Camera takes incredible pictures. I love it. Upgraded from the D40. Already started taking portraits for friends and they have come out great. The kit lens works very well, but I highly recommend the 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor lens which is only [$]. That combo is powerful. Would have gotten the 35mm lens but could beat the price of the 50mm. With that lens the camera feels so steady and light. It allows you to take really awesome pictures even inside with no flash. Can't wait for my next trip the Outer Banks, Disney World, and the Smokies to see what this baby will really do.
