35mm Film

There are many types of 35mm Film: black and white, color slide, color print, tungsten, etc. There are also numerous brands: Kodak, Ilford, Fuji, and Agfa among others. 35mm film gets its name because it is 35mms wide. Most 35mm film is sold in lengths of 12, 20, 24, and 36 exposures.

All film is basically the same whether it is color or black and white. It is a thin plastic, coated with light-sensitive film emulsion.

When light comes through the lens and strikes the film emulsion, it turns dark in that spot. The brighter or longer the light, the darker the emulsion turns. These dark areas are called the latent image.
