Comments about Portable USA 5.6" Digital Picture Frame:

LETTER TO SUPPORT:

I'm an experience 3d/Grx Designer and photographer. I just bought a couple of your frames for xmas gifts. I generally more "hi-tech" than my family members so I wanted to test the product before I gave it to them. I want to be able to explain to them exactly how and what it takes to make it work.

A couple of HUGE issues I came across that make this product FAIL:

1) Apparently, Super High Resolution Images (roughly 3008 x 2000, the quality of photographs I generally take) though they appear in the Slideshow, they DO NOT appear in the Thumbnail view. --- My immediate solution: Resize the photos: that hi of a resolution doesn't make sense for such a small display anyhow. Plus it would save much more space. LEADING ME TO ANOTHER PROBLEM

2) Regardless that I saved/embedded the EXIF data for my new smaller images, they will not show at all. Apparently if I edit, resize, enhance, modify etc.. any photograph it will not display with your product. Although the EXIF data is still attached.
If were one or the other problems I could perhaps live with it. Both together completely destroy the product. It seems the only way around it is to take Lower Resoution photographs that will both display in the thumbnails AND the slideshow, and just hope I don't wish to print any of them.

Another note about problem #2: people take photographs at hi-res, then like myself may resize and save more WEB Friendly files to email. With this product, that option is completely lost!

I thought surely there must be something that fixes these issues. Is there?

Is there a special program or firmware upgrade that addresses them?

If there isn't and not one to come your product gets an F!

And, if I don't return it to get a better one, I'll just have to inform my family and anyone else thinking of using or buying it that it has seriously failed my personal test.

Very Disappointed

Please Respond with any help you may have.

LETTER TO YOU:

Do not get this product if you at all have to resize or edit any of your photographs and expect them to display. As far as I know, using Photoshop/ImageReady, and other graphic programs, making a compatible file for this product doesn't work.

For this product to work correctly, do NOT maximize your resolution on your camera (if so you won't see the image in the thumbnails), and do NOT edit anything (don't even change the name of the file -to be safe-.)

This may be unfair, in that I'm unsure if there IS a fix to these issues. And the other products out there may have the exact same issues.

In the end, I may simply have to "dumb-down" my quality of picture taking just so this product will display them.
