I think these sound great. I read a review stating that the bass overpowered the highs and the person couldn't hear the whole sound. I did not find that to be true with what I listen to. I listen to a Sony Walkman mp3 player. Supertramp's Crime of the Century album sounded fantastic. So does Al Stewart's music. He incorporates many instruments in his music and I could pick them all out. The bass is full and rich and the highs sound very clear and crisp. I also listen to books from the library and they work great for that, but I think they really shine with music! They do block out external sounds to help you hear without turning your player all the way up, and yet you can hear just enough that people don't scare you when they approach. I wear them mostly at work and I need to pull them out to talk with people, but I can still hear what's going on with my machines. I run cylindrical grinders in a small Tool & Die shop.
