Multi-Coating improves overall quality of filter by correcting for refractive properties of the filter glass. With multi-coated glass your photos will look sharper and have more contrast. The Skylight filter corrects for bluish light quality of open shade but most people use it to protect their lens from dust and scratches. Will also absorb ultra violet rays without affecting exposure.

I am giving my daughter an older Nikon D70 plus an 18-55 VR lens that was purchased along with this filter.

I am a firm believer in having a filter on each lens all the time to protect the front lens element and reduce the need to clean the front element.

Protect lens from dust, dirt, fingerprints and other damage from outside world. Better to dent a cheap aluminum ring if you drop the camera or crack a cheap pease of glass than an expensive camera lens

A great lens for a low price. Picture quality is excellent and the lens has a low F 1.8 rating. This 50mm Nikon lens is perfect for indoor and low light photography where a flash won't do.
