Comments about Photogenic Photogenic 6 ft. Telescoping Boom & Swivel:
Was excited to get the boom arm to use with my Photogenic lights to complete a portrait set up in my home studio. I'm using the boom with a 12" by 36" Photogenic softbox which is perfect for adding hair/shoulder highlights. But the first thing I mounted to the boom was my Nikon D700 which I then proceeded to shoot wide angle, high angle interior shots with. Never occurred to me how unique a perspective you can get putting the camera at ceiling height. So I guess I got more than I bargained for. Great!
Photogenic does not specify weight handling on the arm - I tried both the 6.8lb. PL1250 and the 3lb. AKC320III and I do not recommend much over the 3lbs. on this arm. Get a stronger arm with more counterweight if you're using larger strobes. The StudioMax AKC320III feels perfectly safe on the boom at extension.
