I use this filter on my 100 macro lens. I find it provides greater contrast and more vibrant colors. Macros require a great deal of attention to exposure. This filter allows me to take mid day shots with brightly lit backgrounds. This filter is also used for that occasional shot with my macro lens of landscapes with sky or contrasting backgrounds.
