I have not seen any picture degradation while using this product to protect my lense. It threads on and off easily to use other filters. I have even in a hurry just threaded my other filters over the top and not seen a lot of light loss.

I use this to protect my lens all the time. In fact I keep a spare just in case something happens. It does not affect the performance of the lens you are using. I think this is a good quality filter for the price.
