Multi-Coating improves overall quality of filter by correcting for refractive properties of the filter glass. With multi-coated glass your photos will look sharper and have more contrast. Though most people use the UV Haze to protect their lens from dust and scratches, it also absorbs ultra violet and blue rays without affecting exposure or color.

Comments about Quantaray Quantaray 77mm UV Multi-Coated Filter:

Haven't used this because I bought it with a lense that a phone salesperson told me would definitely be compatible with my camera, even though I questioned it. If you can buy it without a salesperson, do it. If not, don't trust their credibility.

Comments about Quantaray Quantaray 77mm UV Multi-Coated Filter:

I used this on the end of an old AFS 80-200 f/2.8. It made my trusty lens very unsharp to the point to where I was unwilling to print anything beyond 5x7s. It performs the same as every other budget filter, very unsatisfactorily. If you really need to save the money, go with a [$] version, and not the "Multicoated" as it accomplishes nothing extra.I don't recommend this for professional or serious photographers. As long as you are only taking casual photos, it will be fine.

I own 4 nikon lens and have a UV filter on 3 of them. Can't put it on a fisheye lens. They protect my lens from scratches. Would not take my camera out without one.
