    Comments about Asus Asus Eee PC 901 8.9" Netbook Computer with Linux (Fine Ebony):

    It's the right tool for the job. In this case the job is (when traveling) transferring photos from the camera's flash card to a portable disk drive, uploading photos to Picasa, checking email, web browsing, etc. I used to do this with a Macbook, but there is a huge difference between this machine's 2+ lbs and the Macbook's 6+ lbs. The performance (using Linux) is more than adequate. The screen quality (and probably the performance) isn't good enough for photo manipulation, though. But the Macbook's wasn't, either. That can wait until I get home.

    By the way, I replaced the Xandros Linux it came with, with Eeebuntu (more up-to-date) with no problem.
