Love the size and power of this unit. Reasonably priced for these features. Only downside is that it does not have a power switch so you must unplug it to turn it off. A toggle switch is an fairly inexpensive component so the fact that it's missing only cheapens the product.

This light pad VERY sturdy but really thin (barely thicker than my Wacom graphics tablet), solidly made, heavier than it looks.I think it's metal on the bottom and plastic on top. Very comfortable to work with. No heat or flicker, and the light temperature is cool. It's not dimmable, but it's bright enough and never causes eye strain while I'm working. You have to unplug it to turn it off- no switch on the cord. It comes with an relatively short extension cord. The tracing surface is not glass and can be scratched, so it must be handled carefully. If you take care of it, it should last for years.

I just received my new Copic LT1117 trace pad light box. I was skeptical of the new technology and wondered if I was just jumping into a new world just "because". I must say without any reservations, that this is the best light box out there. I cannot imagine what is involved in making a thin (1/2 inch) box that can display consistent lighting across a 17" X 11" surface. That was what was bragged about on the Copic web site, but I couldn't believe it until I received mine today. The lighting IS consistent across the whole surface!
I want to advise that there is a lot of discrepancies within the various websites which describe this light box. Some say the light is dimmable, but both Copic and Light Beam agree in their web sites, and nothing is mentioned about this benefit, (although this is touted on several sites.) The light box is not dimmable, but is not obnoxiously brilliant, and should not be a problem.
Many, including Copic's web site, say it has 6000K light, others say 5500K. When I called them, Copic say they are correct at 6000K, but Light Beam's web site, who makes the product, say 5500K. Copic says 50,000 of use, and Light Beam and others say 75,000 use. Either way, I'm 59 years old, and I'll probably never see the end of either use expectancy. I do, however find the discrepancies disturbing. Do they know what they are talking about???
I still recommend this product, even though it is a bit pricier than other light boxes. It is everything I wanted. The extra $$$ it costs is worth the it: the space savings, the even lighting and brilliance, and the years of expected service, (including electric bill savings because of LED). I think this is the future in this world of art products. Take the chance, I'm glad I did!
