This is a great kit lens. It holds up well, is pretty easy to clean, and has some great glass. I've been using this mostly as a zoom lens, but it also works well for close-up/macro photography. The only thing I don't like about it is that it just doesn't feel as sturdy as I'd like it; it's still very durable, but just doesn't have that sort of feel.

I use this lens to get portraits of flowers, architectural details, and occasionally wildlife. It makes a whole new range of shots possible. It is especially versatile when coupled to an image stabilized camera body working well even in early morning light.

Ever notice how having a camera in the room turns your kids gorgeous smile into a cheese grin? This lens lets you stay far enough back from the action to actually capture natural smiles and memorable giggles as if you were two feet away. I took pictures of my niece and nephew from 50 yards away and got every smile, jump, and giggle like I was right there. Beautiful kids deserve beautiful pictures! This lens lets you do that!
