Specially designed for the APS-size CCD imager of the Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100 camera, this is the standard zoom lens that brings you closer to your subject. With superior all-in-one lens performance for everyday shooting, its 35mm-equivalent range of 27mm wide-angle to 300mm telephoto excels at capturing faraway subjects, sports events, dramatic landscapes and intimate close-up views.
Internal Focusing System - Internal lens elements move, so the overall length does not change -- creating a lens that focuses more quickly and doesn?t change balance.
Aspherical Lens Elements - Three aspherical elements correct visual aberrations more effectively across the entire zoom range and help reduce weight.
ED (Extra-low Dispersion) Glass - Two ED Glass lenses minimize flare and greatly reduce chromatic aberration, giving you sharp, clear shots even at full telephoto extension.
Circular Aperture - Because aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.

Comments about Sony Sony 18-200 mm DT f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens:
Yesterday, Easter, to Family Dinner, I wanted to bring one lens only. Chose my Maxxum 50 2.8 Macro for its terrific sharp images. Wished I'd brought the 18-200mm. Found myself forever moving myself, back and forth getting the right frame. Now that's why I bought the darned long zoom in the first place. One doesn't miss the value of a Zoom until one doesn't have one.
It will ocasionally search some, but not often. Wish it had a AF focus limiter to speed it up.
Best, general purpose, all-round lens I own by far.
Comments about Sony Sony 18-200 mm DT f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens:
a marked improvement over Sony's low cost, long zooms, worth the difference- try to keep it in its Sweet Zone- f5.6-11 or higher- just a little loss in the corners at both Zoom extremes- not to worry about
Sometimes will Search for focus, ESP indoors and/or low light
Focus won't change length of lens TRUE***
***But ZOOMING will GREATLY CHANGE LENGTH OF LENS X 2.5
Yes, I DO OWN THIS LENS! But Can't Mention where bought.

Comments about Sony Sony 18-200 mm DT f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens:
I was getting caught in situations where the 18-70 kit lens just did not work for me. Not wanting to constantly switch lenses, I opted to move to this gem. It covers the range of photography that I need, with the convenience of a single lens.

Comments about Sony Sony 18-200 mm DT f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens:
I purchased this lens with the camera (Alpha 100) as an all-purpose lens, and it has proven to be just that. I enlarge my better photos to 11X19 and have found the pictures to be exceptional. It's great having just one lens that can do it all! It might seem to be a little heavy to some users, but I think that just attests to its strong construction and ruggedness!

Comments about Sony Sony 18-200 mm DT f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens:
I found this lens okay, but the auto focus seemed a bit slow and noisey for the price. I recommend checking out Tamron and Sigma lenses which offer competive performance at a lower cost.
