Comments about Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

It's a good lens, but it kind of only happens randomly. The focus on it is good and all, and sometimes makes the pictures look really good on the LCD screen, but just about everytime I get them on the computer, the coloring isn't like it was, it's not entirely focused, and it's grainy.

Comments about Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

This is a great starter lens and remarkably versatile. The light weight means that you can go anywhere with the lens, and the focal length will probably cover 80% or more of the situations you'd shoot.

With the autofocus and NIkon's RAW format, you can get a level of crispness that goes to the individual pixel at 8 Mpixels.

However, it is not rugged enough for everyday or serious outdoor use. One slip on a hiking trip, and the lens jammed -- leaving the autofocus feature inoperable.

I've loved the lens for 13 months, but I'll need to look elsewhere for a replacement.

Comments about Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I've had this lens for about a year now with my Nikon D50. It is an excellent lens for the money. I detect a slight amount of barrel distortion at 18mm, but the rest of the focal length is sharp and clear. I also wish it had a slightly longer focal length (say, up to 70 or 75mm). The construction may seem cheap compared to some of Nikon's more robust lenses, however the trade-off gives you a light lens that is very easy to carry around. Finally, color fidelity is wonderful. If you need a lens that can get banged up and thrown into a gadget bag without a care, this lens probably isn't for you. But if you are an amateur photographer on a budget (like me) this lens will serve you well for years to come and give you many crisp images in return.

Comments about Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

I traded in my 28-80mm G kit lens for the 18-55mm DX. This lens is perfect. I also grabbed a 55-200mm DX during an after Christmas sale and I couldn't be happier. These lenses focus quickly, quietly, and perfectly every time. The results are as good as I could possibly expect from sub $200 lenses.

Comments about Nikon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens:

Perfect, low price lens for general shooting. Allows you to shoot your new camera body cheaply, while saving for that 18-200mm VR or something. Works great for flash photography, short distances. Feels a little cheap, but you get what you pay for so....over all, good lens.
