An average Lense
By George from Connecticut. on 12/18/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Easy To Clean
Best Uses:
Back-Up, General Use

Comments about Nikon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 'G' Autofocus Zoom Lens:

If you are using a digital camera, this lens is only average. The new DI lenses focus so much more clearly, it is uncomparable. This is a great lense for sports on a bright day where you have plenty of light.

If you have to buy only one lense for distance and on a budget, this lense is fine. If you have money to spend, buy a Tamron DI lense. Their technology is exceptional and produces pictures of clarity and quality.

Excellent Starter Telephoto
By Nikon EnthusiastVerified Reviewer from Sarasota, FL on 11/23/2006
Pros:
Compact Size, Easily Interchangeable, Very Lightweight
Cons:
No ED Glass, Weak Casing
Best Uses:
Back-Up, First-time Telephoto, General Use, Travel Lens

Comments about Nikon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 'G' Autofocus Zoom Lens:

This would make a great lens for travel because of its lightweight design and small size. It's also good as a starter telephoto.

The camera body, not the lens, runs the auto focusing, so the focusing speed depends on the camera body (slower on D50, faster on D200).

It looks good at first
By Photographer manVerified Reviewer from Greenville, SC on 11/15/2006
Pros:
Durable, Easily Interchangeable
Cons:
Focuses slowly
Best Uses:
Back-Up

Comments about Nikon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 'G' Autofocus Zoom Lens:

It focused very slowly. I bought it a few years ago, and I was disappointed. It was not worth it. It would make a good back-up lens.
