The most compact and lightest in the history of fast zoom lenses. Thanks to the revolutionary downsizing XR technology employed by Tamron in the development of high-power zoom lenses such as the 28-200mm and 28-300mm, the dramatic compactness that makes this lens the world's smallest and lightest is achieved. Its compactness makes it look and feel like an ordinary standard zoom lens, yet the versatility that a fast constant maximum aperture offers will definitely reshape your photographic horizons.

Di: Digitally Integrated Design, is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras.

Tamron produces high performance, quality specification lenses utilizing the latest optical theory and technology. Tamron's high magnification zoom lenses, which are said to be particularly challenging technically, have received critical acclaim internationally for their innovative technology and have been selected for many prestigious awards. Tamron's technical excellence has also been recognized worldwide for macro lenses, wide angle lenses and telephoto lenses. And Tamron's new line of Di lenses for superior performance with digital SLR cameras, is garnering attention and awards from around the globe.

Comments about Tamron Tamron 28-75 mm f/2.8 SP XR Di LD Aspherical IF f/Canon EOS AF:

I like the range, I like the price. But I'm a little disappointed, especially with all the hype. It's not nearly as sharp or as fast focusing as my little [$] Canon 50mm prime lens. It's possible that I do not have a "sharp" copy, but sometimes the photos are tack sharp, and sometimes it's too soft for my taste. It IS MUCH better than the kit lens, thus my recommendation.

I've been shocked at the bundle lens with Canon 30D. It is so bad.I've been shocked at the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 with Canon 30D. It makes a clear and crisp image.I love the skin tone of person in the image captured by Tamron.I wanted to buy Canon 24-70mm L lens. but it is too expensive for me.I found that Tamron 28-75mm makes almost same quality with Canon 24-70mm L lens from so many camera forums.[...]

I love this lens. I recently purchased a Canon Rebel XTi and wanted to get something a little better than the kit lens. I did some studying and had decided to go with either the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 DC MACRO or this lens. After looking at tons of pictures taken with both I decided on this one and haven't been disappointed. The lens has a solid feel to it and works great. You can't go wrong for the price!
