Comments about Tamron Tamron 24-135 mm AF For Canon:
I have owned a Tamron SP24-135 lens for over 2 years, and it has served me well on several Canon DSLRs, including my current 40D and 5D models. It has more than earned its keep, as I have sold a number of 20x30 prints of photos taken with this lens. I use it primarily as a "walk-around" lens for landscapes, but it is also capable of stunning closeups for flowers and the like. Image clarity and sharpness are excellent, with only the slightest visible softening in the corners, and that only on my full-frame 5D. Contrast and color rendition are very good. The lens is solidly built (mine survived a 2-ft fall from my camera bag to a concrete floor with no ill effects), but the penalty for that is a bit of added weight. It doesn't focus quite as fast as I'd like sometimes, and the lack of built-in stabilization can be a limiting factor in low light. Overall, though, it is an excellent lens, especially for the price. In this focal range, there are several to choose from, but if you don't want to drop well over $1000 on a Canon 24-105L, this is an excellent alternative.

I was only able to borrow this lens and use it indoors.. I did not like it very much. it seems like it made my photos noisy/grainy even with a higher ISO. but it is built well and I'm sure it makes for nicer photos outdoors.
