The optical Image Stabilization in the new EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens provides up to an incredible four stops of shake correction-a first for Canon IS lenses.
The use of fluorite UD lens elements provides excellent optical performance in terms of resolution and contrast.
These features, together with its water-and dust-proof construction, provide both the performance and portability to meet user demands.

Comments about Canon Canon 70-200mm f/4 L-Series IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens:
I have had this lens for about 2 1/2 months. I've tried out the 2.8L IS USM version loaned from a friend (very heavy and much larger in diameter) and find that the 4L IS USM produces MUCH sharper images than its 2.8L big brother, is lighter, and slimmer. AF is quick and silent and locks onto target quickly. IS is a welcome addition and definitely minimizes vibration especially at full zoom. Also, with the 7D's new tracking focus mechanism, this lens tracks moving objects very well from my kids playing to pets running. Low light with 4.0 is problematic for most other lenses but with this lens and my style of shots (mostly daytime anyway, outdoors), it's not a big deal. With the HD video of the 7D, this lens is a welcome addition to my lens collection. Very nice purchase and am completely satisfied. Would recommend if you're on the fence with this and the 2.8L IS USM.
