Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

I got some wonderful pictures of images that the regular lens was just too far away to capture. I took pictures of the children sledding and the images were very clear, as they were shooting down the mountain. It's also very easy to change the lens. It does make the camera a little heavy, but I believe that's to be expected. I love it!!!

Simple, turn it on and go at it! It has Silent, quick and very accurate focusing. Large photos come out so clear with the 12.2 mega pixels! I LOVE this camera. I also love the image stabilizer on the 18mm-55mm lens. The only thing I don't like is that the 75mm-300mm lens does not have the image stabilizer. Other than that, it's a perfect piece of machinery!

Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

Bought the lens with a Canon XSi package. Love the camera with the main 18-55mm lens, but this lens doesn't quite live up to the Canon line. I knew from the beginning that this was a low end Canon lens and that it didn't have some key features (image stabilization being primary) but took a shot at it anyway since it was part of the Canon XSi package. I should have spent a little more to get a better telephoto lens. I've used it so far on a cruise, a major college football game and general landscape/wildlife photos and I think I'm batting about 40% on good vs just ok shots. When I did get a good shot (minus any vibration, etc.), the photos were great. This is why I rate the lens as Bipolar. The length when fully extended is huge, and I made it longer with a lens hood. I'm not professional enough (willing to spend...) for an L series lens, but this is not going to cut it for long.
Bottom line:
1. IS is a "must have" for any type of zoom.
2. Canon didn't quite hit the ball with this lens.

Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

It is not image stabilized, nor does it have fast focus, but it is not bad for the price and for what it is. Ritz has a deal to get this for [$]with a new camera. I picked it up and have used it for sports and nature shots. It will not rival the higher end lenses, with HSM and IS built in, but will give you good shots with good light. It is a great starter lens for someone on a budget, looking to learn. Then, save up and upgrade to one of the higher end lenses with IS and you will be happy.

Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

This lens is so light weight and easy to attach to my camera that I take it with me all the time. It works great. I especially like the Autofocus feature: all I do is zoom in or out to compose the frame and press the shutter release.

Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

The lens was included with my Rebel XTi at the time of purchase so I didn't really have to fork in any cash for it. It's good for landscape, portraits, and some wildlife photography. The focus on this particular lens is very slow, especially in low light conditions. Sometimes if it's dark enough, the lens won't be able to find a focusing point and will just slowly focus in and out. It's terric in daylight, really bright lighting, because that's when it's focusing system is actually capable of quick focuses. It's pretty heavy, I won't say it's sturdy, but it's heavy. This lens will definitely require a tripod. Other than that it's a pretty good lens for a cheap price too.

Comments about Canon Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III EF Lens:

I 'test drove' this lens over the weekend with modeling photos. Very good lens when there is plenty of light. As the sun started to go down and I only had ambient light (enough to read by but not direct sun) the AF wasn't as true as mid day in the shade or full sun behind clouds. I ended up 'out shooting' the lens at one point.

The lens was great for taking the long shot and I'm very happy with my purchase. It did exactly what I wanted it to do.
