Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Printer:

This would be the best printer on earth if you could easily load heavy-paper manually. I end up having to re-load the same piece 2-3 times before the printer grabs it correctly and lines it up right. The good news is that it doesn't print on a bad feed, but you need to eject and start again. It's very annoying! But the end results are worth the tinkering. And if you don't print on heavy art papers, no worries!

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Printer:

It was very easy to set up. I was suprised at how quiet this printer is when printing. It has 4 paper paths so you can even use roll paper up to 13" wide. I have not tried that as yet but looking forward to it as the cost for the roll paper seems reasonable, can't wait to see what a 13" X 44" print looks like. The finished prints up to 13" X 19" that I have printed, Look Good. I love being able to print good looking Black & White Prints as well as color prints. The availability of a large variety of papers including fine art paper, makes it a joy to use this printer to produce a great looking print. I am very satisfied.
It is an expensive printer but if you want a great quality print and can't afford the jump to the larger printers this is the printer to get.

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Printer:

Printing digital photos is the best way to preserve them, say the pros in both photography and computer science. Having come into a modest windfall, I put down the nearly $[...] for the Epson R2400 as an archival printer. You can see from the ads all that it offers - new 9-color wide-gamut printing with Ultrachrome K3 pigmented inks, ability to handle large-ish paper (to 13"x44" on rolls, 13"x19" on cut sheets), decent speed, etc. I compared its specs with competing Canons and HPs on initial price, price of ink per print, and more, and then chose the Epson. It worked out of the box with simple installation. I also purchased separately Picture Window Pro [...] and the monitor calibrator, Spyder2 Pro [...]. The printer, calibrator, and image software make an unbeatable combination. I see the image on my monitor and I print it (with a quick tweak to bump up the brightness curve), and it's just the way I saw it on the monitor. Even pastel pinks and purples, the bane of color management, come out well. The speed is good, and the ink monitoring is accurate - if a bit disconcerting when one thinks about $[...]+ per 8.5"x11" print...but HP ink costs a bit more [...]. Be sure to buy extra inks with the printer. The light magenta and the blacks go fastest, at least on my kinds of prints; cyan lasts the longest. I've been a serious amateur and scientific photographer for 35 years, and this is the new road for me. The prints are brilliant; I rarely see the limits of the gamut of pigmented inks. By the way, don't hold back from switching between matte black and glossy black inks. These are important to match to the paper, for sure. I have seen reviewers say they toss the partly-used cartridge of, say, matte, when they switch to glossy. Don't do it; wrap the cartridge you removed in layers of good plastic and put a tight rubber band over the ink outlet. When you pop it back in the printer, the Epson's ink management clears the lines of the previous ink perfectly. I've used Epson and HP glossy paper and Epson Enhanced Matte (formerly called Archival Matte) with very good results. The rival Canon i9990 apparently takes only glossy paper, while matte prints are preferrable for a distinct range of subjects and a range of display conditions. I've printed the images here, and 200 others, to my considerable satisfaction. In summary, if you have a serious collection of digital images and want to display them, sell them, share them, or just preserve them, the Epson R2400 is the base of a great system to do this.

Comments about Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Printer:

I got this printer 1 year ago and still am in love with it. I use it primarily for 8 x 10's and they always come out stunning. I am not a professional, just really like good quality photos and even on basic settings, these prints are beautiful. Everyone always comments on the quality.

I make lots of "photo" gifts for family members and love that I can get such good quality just by turning on my computer, pulling up the picture and pressing print.

I also like that I can switch to matte and there is a separate ink for that. The matte is beautiful also on either of their matte papers.

It is expensive to initially purchase an entire set of refill inks, however, I find I do not have to replace them all at once. I seem to go through yellow a lot based on the pictures I print, but not so much the blues. So, from that sense fact that each cartridge can be replaced individually is a benefit.

For my needs - high quality archival photos for general use, it is a really good fit.
