Deep foliage, nor canyons faze the rugged eTrex Vista HCx. Its high-sensitivity receiver holds a GPS signal in the toughest environments. Similar to the Vista Cx, this handheld navigator also has a bright color screen, barometric altimeter, electronic compass, microSD? card slot and automatic routing for wherever adventure takes you.

Enjoy Clear Reception
With its high-sensitivity, WAAS-enabled GPS receiver, eTrex Vista HCx locates your position quickly and precisely and maintains its GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The advantage is clear ? whether you?re in deep woods or just near tall buildings and trees, you can count on Vista HCx to help you find your way when you need it the most.

Get Your Bearings
The Vista HCx has a built-in electronic compass that provides bearing information even while you're standing still, and its barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. You can even use the altimeter to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help you keep an eye on changing weather conditions.

Expand Your Memory
Adding maps is easier than ever with Vista HCx's microSD card slot. Conveniently plug in optional preloaded microSD cards with MapSource data for your land and sea excursions. Just insert a MapSource card with detailed street maps, and Vista HCx provides turn-by-turn directions to your destination. The card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment, so you don't have to worry about getting it wet.

Take It Anywhere
Like the rest of the eTrex series, Vista HCx is lightweight and compact ? the perfect size for all your travels.
Other Vista HCx features:

  • Waterproof, so it can withstand the elements or an accidental dunk in water.

Comments about Garmin Garmin eTrex Vista HCx:

I wanted something that would track the distance and speed of my kayak or bike trips. I have a bike computer but I have a 29er so the reading are all just guess work (but I digress. My first use was down the Oswego river in a kayak. I had programmed the route using Topo 2008 and set my waypoints and route and uploaded them into the GPS. Set the trip computer and off i went. I got to Martha pond and about 9 different inlets and outlets greeted me. I looked at the tracks on the GPS and saw the one I needed and all my trip data to that point. After the trip I loaded the data from the gps to mapsource and was totally blown away the trip was outline to exact detail I could select a point anywhere on the trip see how fast how high and what time I was there. I have since used it on 2 bike and 3 more kayak trips to great results. I was greatly surprised at the ease of use and the trip results that I had to let everyone know

Comments about Garmin Garmin eTrex Vista HCx:

I love this GPS for all my outdoor hikes and runs. It is very accurate, gets satellite pickups very quickly and never loses signal. It even works indoors with a roof over head. It doesn't takt up much room and is very light weight.

The Screen is a little smaller than the some of the other more expensive garmins but do you really need it for a handheld.

Anyway I am very happy with my purchase and if you want the funtions this offers you won't be let down.
