Introducing the Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS - The ultimate travel companion. The Garmin Nuvi is a versatile travel assistant that's approximately the size of a deck of playing cards.

The nuvi is a portable GPS navigator, traveler's reference, and digital entertainment system, all in one. Combined with detailed maps, the Garmin nuvi provides automatic routing, turn-by-turn voice directions, and finger-touchscreen control - making it easy to find your way anywhere.

Travel Kit - The Garmin nuvi also offers a travel kit of useful travel tools to help keep any journey fun: MP3 player, audio book player from Audible.com, JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator. In addition, optional software packages such as the Language Guide and Travel Guide (sold separately on SD Data cards) can be added for language and content support.

Travelers can use the nuvi to navigate to an address or search points of interest (POIs) - places like hotels, restaurants, shopping, and tourist attractions. The Garmin nuvi automatically calculates the fastest route and provides voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions along the way. Thanks to the nuvi's text-to-speech functionality, the unit audibly announces the name of upcoming streets - letting drivers keep their eyes on the road while navigating through busy traffic and tricky roadways. If users stray off course, the nuvi automatically calculates the quickest way to get back on track.

Garmin nuvi 350 North American versions include pre-loaded City Navigator NT maps of the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

The nuvi 350's unique text-to-speech feature calls out turns by street name. In addition, this text-to-speech interface, gives users the spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank - along with gender and part-of-speech information.

The nuvi 350 is compatible with the GTM 10 FM TMC traffic receiver, which allows users to avoid traffic tie-ups by simply pushing a button that will calculate a new route.

The nuvi 350 also comes with an A/C charger and approximately 700 MBs of internal memory for storage of supplemental maps, MP3s, and audio books (available from Audible.com).

Optional Software

Language Guide software - Users can access an optional Garmin Language Guide, with data provided by Oxford University Press. This software suite contains a multilingual word bank, phrase bank, and five bilingual dictionaries. The multilingual word bank and phrase bank supports nine languages and dialects, including American English, British English, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, European Spanish, and Latin American Spanish. The Language Guide lets travelers look up and translate more than 17,000 words or 20,000 phrases per language. Through the unit's text-to-speech interface (offered only on the Garmin nuvi 350) , users can get a spoken pronunciation of each entry in the word bank - along with gender and part-of-speech information.

Travel Guide software - The new Garmin Travel Guide is loaded with information provided by Marco Polo. These guides put in-depth travel information - such as reviews and recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and more - at the user's fingertips.

Comments about Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS Navigator Travel Assistant:

This is a great product. But unfortunately Garmin hasn't kept their maps updated for it as of yet. I have gone at least three places that weren't there because I thought that the GPS was correct. Needless to say I no longer do that. But this is a great product for long trips. And it is accurate to the T with your location. Garmin just needs to update the maps. I would absolutely recomend this product. Hope you have as good of an experienc as I have.

Comments about Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS Navigator Travel Assistant:

I received the 350 as a Christmas present and have used it many times already as I travel extensively across the country using rental cars once I get to a city I'm traveling to. The 350 has operated flawlessly outside of the mapping could used to be updated a little more frequently. I used it locally a few times and have gone on roads that I knew were built 4-5 years ago and it showed me in the middle of farmland. However, aside from that, it will get you where you need to go without a thought. Further, it is extremely simple to use and has many neat features that are very usefull. I highly recommend it. I just wish it would accept maps of lakes so that I could use it on my boat.

Comments about Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS Navigator Travel Assistant:

I love this GPS, the only better model is the nuvi 680, newly available.
Keys:
1) VERY compact -- easily able to fit in a breast pocket
2) Text-to-Speech -- announces proper street names, not just "turn left in 500 feet"; radically reduces how much you need to look at the screen to figure out the real instructions; wouldn't own a GPS unit wihtout this
3) Bright Screen -- readable in virtually every situation
4)User Friendly - The base models from Garmin don't ship with an owner's manual because they are so easy to use.

Comments about Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS Navigator Travel Assistant:

Unit really delivers... gets you to your destination (whether by shortest distance, by street, highways, & other user selectable choices). Startup & acquisition is fast... voice prompts are continous & hangs-in-there if you continually make mistakes or miss turnoffs. One improvement is to get a better carrying case. I find that a Pelican case works well for the 350.. making it durable & waterproof for transporting to/from car, plane, or etc.

Comments about Garmin nuvi 350 Portable GPS Navigator Travel Assistant:

I just purchased the unit yesterday. The wife and I took a joy ride to a mall in a neighboring town about 40 miles away. the unit took us there without any major issues. On 2 occassions it did think we were off the beaten path, but it corrected itself and proceeded flawlessly. I reside in Wichita, KS which is about 3 hours from the one and only Garmin facility in North America. I'm tempted to drive to Olathe, KS and shake someone in the facility's hand. I'm looking forward to using the unit in my sales jobas well as an upcoming trip to the east coast. The compact size is a BIG plus. I also [...]downloaded the latest software update. I also called Garmin anf had a 15 minute wait time during weekday business hours. The tech from Garmin was very helpful anf informed. Garmin beats the competition and now I understand why they are numero uno in GPS navigation systems. My wife, who is not a technical person, loves this thing and is planning on purchasing her own unit very soon. The unit is expensive, but I'm not complaining. You get what you pay for....
