In low-light or back-light situations, added illumination from the built-in Speedlight can make the difference between an average snapshot and a dazzling picture.

Fast, Accurate 3-Area Autofocus:

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR Lens
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR Lens offers Nikon's proprietary Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to help consumers snap sharper photos than ever before, even while shooting handheld. Compact and lightweight, this affordable lens is an optimum lens to use with Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras and is the ideal focal length as a first lens to faithfully capture life's day-to-day moments, or a welcome addition to a Nikon D-SLR photographer's already-established lens assortment.

From family gatherings to sunny vacation beaches, the NIKKOR 18-55mm VR lens produces stunning results with vivid color and incredible sharpness. The 3x optical zoom offers users of Nikon DX-format D-SLR cameras including the D40, D40x, D80 and new D300 with a versatile picture angle perspective ranging from wide angle for dramatic landscapes and interiors, to moderate telephoto that is ideal for flattering portraits.

Beyond the lens' incredible optical versatility is the amazing benefit of Nikon's VR technology, which enables photographers to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible. This provides the distinct advantage of being able to shoot more effectively in a much broader variety of challenging conditions. Nikon's VR system affords users the ability to take pictures at shutter speeds up to three stops slower* than they ordinarily could shoot without the image-degrading blur caused by camera shake at slow shutter speeds.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

Nice and light camera, but with issues. Very slow and unreliable focus in low light, not even low, rather standard indoor, tendency to overexpose outdoors, hit and miss focus - when closely examined almost every image has some focus issues, fringing, to much hassles with changing lenses. Maybe OK as first DSLR camera, not even close to D300 which is purely EXCELLENT with 18-200 lens.

I bought this camera after my point and shoot found the water. I did lots of research and read hundreds of reviews of Dslr's. This camera is way beyond my expectations. Right out of the box I was taking very clear, awesome shots. Very user friendly, easy to operate without reading the manual. Best deal on the web, and the VR lens are a must have. Don't hesitate to buy, its money well spent.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

If you want something that's lightweight, easy to use out of the box, and reliable, this camera will deliver for you. If you have a little extra money to spend and want all the bells and whistles, then you'll probably want to look a step or two higher up the product line than the D60. I purchased it because it was the best value for my money, especially since it included the 2 lenses.
What I like best about the camera body is the intuitive way the controls are laid out, both physically on the camera and within the menus. It's very easy to learn to use.
For those who are considering buying this as your first dSLR, just remember that, as with most things in photography, your own skill as a photographer plays a bigger role in the images you'll get than anything else. If you have no clue what you're doing, the auto settings work well and you'll get good pictures, but the results may not justify spending the extra money for a dSLR. However, if you take the time to learn a little more and dive into using the manual settings, this camera will deliver images that are near professional quality. The only drawback is that now all my friends want to use my camera.
I also suggest buying the ML-L3 remote transmitter (around 20 bucks). It comes in handy when using a tripod for long exposures (longer than 1/30 or so). Clicking a button from a distance instead of pressing the shutter release on the camera means no camera movement at all during the exposure, keeping the image nice and sharp. It's also handy for taking pictures with my family. No more setting the timer then running to get in the picture. Just compose, get in my place, and start firing away with the remote. Besides, how cool is it to take pictures without touching your camera?

Going from a point and shoot to this, I was a little worried that I would be overwhelmed. But I got it out of the box, charged the batteries and started taking beautiful pictures! When I had time I watched the DVD's and learned a few more tricks. I would recommend this camera to anyone, it's easy to use and takes clear, vivid photos. The camera and 2 lenses are a steal for the price. The gadget bag is bigger than what I thought it would be, nice a roomy. I think this is a great camera for the money and anyone looking to upgrade from a point and shoot to a DSL, please consider this camera, it's a fabulous deal and you won't be disappointed! My kids who have had no interest in taking pictures in the past enjoy using the camera and are amazed at their photos.

I spent months reviewing all camera's since I would be dropping some coin on my first SLR. It is a great camera, bought it, and on the first day shot 150 pictures of my finacee's carin terrier playing in the mud puddles. Just had to get out after the rain stopped to try the camera out.
It is very fast, and the pictures are incredible. Nikon, you have done it again.

Thanks

I have been taking photo's for a bit less than a year. I might not be the perfect photographer, but this camera is perfect for me. I took pictures of the beach at Maui, Hawaii, and my friend asked me if it was a postcard. He was extremely surprised that a weak camera man like me can take such beautiful and deep pictures. To make a long story short, he bought the camera and started taking photography, too. This camera is great and the only place where you'll find it this cheap is on this website.

Excellent camera. I've been into photography for 5 years and this camera has earned me lots of recognition and respect. Most photographers or most people think that I'm using some huge bulky "professional" $1,000+ camera and I'm not. I'm using a D60. If you take a photograph with this camera and compare it to the D300, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference...ONLY if you know how to use the D60 manual settings to your best advantage. Great camera! I use it for everything, photo shoots, landscaping, fun events and traveling.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

I bought this camera and lens package mainly to photograph my kids sports. Outdoor sports photograph fantastic with good light. Low light indoors is a little bit of a challenge, but adjusting the iso setting, using shutter priority, a flash (either internal or external) and some editing has yielded some very good pictures. I have gotten some great pictures sitting in the bleachers at basketball games with the 55-200 VR lens. I'm sure a faster lens would yield even better results, but very good pictures can be accomplished at indoor sports events with these lenses. I even had a jr. high girl with no photography experience take pictures at some basketball games and she got some great pictures. This camera is simple enough to just point and shoot in the auto mode, or has plenty of versatility with other settings as well if needed. I would highly recommend this as an entry level DSLR camera. If I had to do it again, I would definitely buy this camera again.

I ordered a couple of the Nikon school DVDs that help with understanding digital photography, but if you want to take your camera out and just shoot in the "AUTO" mode, I guarantee you will be taking professional quality photos in no time.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

I'm 29 years old and this is my first DSLR. I had been lusting after a higher-end Canon for some time, but couldn't bring myself to fork out that kind of cash for one. Then my husband stumbled across this package and after researching I figured out that it was exactly what I had been wanting and I had been looking at something way out of my league. I am not a professional, but I have a real enthusiasm for taking lots & lots of pictures. I'm in to the artsy, as well as landscapes and more. My husband & I do lots of traveling and I wanted to take our vacation pictures to a whole different level. [...] To date I've probably taken about 700 pictures and have been absolutely amazed by what this camera can do. I still have a lot to learn, but it'll be easy enough to make the D60 do what I need it to do. If I was of the variety that I only wanted to take family pictures/snapshots, Christmastime & birthday photos, etc. then this camera would be more than perfect for that. It's a bit expensive to treat it just like a point-and-shoot, but if that's what you're looking for the quality is definitely there. The D60 is not nearly as heavy as some of the cameras I've owned before and I'm looking forward to carrying it with me on hikes and such. It feels sturdy, though, and the balance is good. I have long fingers and it fits nicely in my hands. The buttons and other features are easy enough to navigate. The built-in flash is about what you would expect from a built-in flash, nothing fancy and pretty similar to the flash on a point-in-shoot. I'm not sure what the approx. range is because I haven't used the flash that much yet. I have, however, been quite impressed by how many good quality pictures I've been able to take inside without using the flash. The VR lenses are great. I have a tendency to shake (a lot) and the VR has compensated for that beautifully.I definitely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a great quality camera and especially to those just starting out with DSLR's. You will be amazed. Even after I improve my skills I honestly don't ever see myself needing anything more. I'm in love with my D60!SPECIAL NOTE: Buyers beware!! If you're not paying attention you might not realize this camera may come to you in the "Bonus Black/Gold Edition". I was just about to click BUY when my eyes fell on the teeny-tiny words notifying me about this alternate version (I had visited the page probably 30 times and had never noticed it before - hence tiny letters serve their purpose). I researched it and had to really come to grips with the idea of owning a "blinging" camera. I decided it was totally worth it, decided I would just name the camera "Mr. T" for fun's sake, and went through with my order. Let me tell you... The pictures online do not depict the gold very well. Online it has a very blinging quality to it, but in person the gold is muted and quite antique looking except where the camera strap attaches (which is predominately covered by the strap). I am completely alright with the gold and am very happy that I did not let that keep me from ordering the package. This may not be important to everyone reading reviews, but when I was buying there were very few people who even mentioned the Black/Gold Edition and I swore I would discuss it in detail for the other style-conscious photographers out there... (BTW, I named it Mr. T anyway.)

I mostly use this camera for fast action photos of my toddler. I've had other Nikon digital cameras, but they just weren't fast enough. This camera is fast enough to capture a child in motion in a clear picture (no blur). I've also been amazed at how clear photos of the night sky and landscape are. I'm very pleased at how easy the camera is to use, considering I was a bit intimidated by something other than point and shoot. All in all I would recommend this camera for anyone beginning to venture past the point and shoot digital cameras.

I shopped atound first for camera info. I compared this to the canon and the sony. You can be happy with any of these. I read every review the internet has to offer. One review suggested holding the cameras for hand fitment. This made all the differnce. The canon felt as though your finger tips had to stabilize the body. The sony felt less awkward, but the Nikon had the best fit. The folks at Wolf Camera were awesome. You will not find a better price with the expert knowlege. The Nikon DVDs are helpful to camera use. This camera does not have live view, but after testing the canon XSi, that live view is almost pointless. The photos i've taken are sharp and color is perfect. If I could afford another few hundred dollars I would step up to the D90. For the price you can't beat the D60.

When I travel I like to take shots I can use in the classroom when I return. I moved from a film SLR to a digital point and shoot but wasn't completely happy with the capabilities of the camera. I am delighted with the quality and versatility of the D60 with two VR lenses. A professional would probably want even more capabilities, but this camera provides more than enough for me. I considered several different brands and sought input from professional and semi-professional photographers and photojournalism students. When I stacked up all of their recommendations and considered my needs and abilities, the D60 2-lens package stood out as the best choice, and the value was solid. [...]

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

The Nikon D60 was my first DSLR and it was a hard choice between the Nikon and Canon. I have been an avid Canon fan for years, but was drawn to the D60. I favored the small, compact design which is light and easy to handle. It may be small, but it's fully functional and simple to use! This is a great package with the (2) VR lenses (you definitely need the VR lenses!). The gadget bag is bulky and I quickly replaced it with the Tamrac Velocity 7X. The Nikon DVDs are also great for those starting out with a DSLR.

Some things to consider: this camera only has 3 auto-focus points. You need the D80 or D90 if you want additional points. The Canon XSi has more focus points than the D60. The Canon also has a live-view LCD if that is important to you (this didn't bother me). With most DSLR's, the built-in flash is not that great in low-light conditions. An external flash which allows you to bounce light off different surfaces is a highly recommended upgrade.

Overall, this is a great camera for enthusiasts and those wanting to purchase a DSLR for the first time!

I received my D60 about a week ago and can not get over all of the great features this little SLR contains. At first I thought I was going in over my head with the price but now that I have used it for a few days it was worth every cent. I really enjoy not missing shots now, the speed is incredible with almost no delay, very much like my old 35mm with the advantage of Digital. This really is a great camera.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

I have owned a D50 for 3 years and love it. I damaged my 28-80 mm lens and was looking to replace it with both the 18-55mm and 55-200 VR package. The cost of buying the D60 package vs the lenses separately (and reselling my D50) was only about an extra $100 so I decided to "upgrade" The D60 had a few features I didn't have in my D50. Don't know if it's the difference in the body or the VR lenses, but the picture quality is not nearly as good as my old D50 (even with my damaged lens- which gives me trouble on auto focus) or my friend's D40 (with the regular 18-55 lens, not the VR) Overall my inside images are darker, not as sharp and the coloring is not as natural. There is almost a grayish quality to the colors. I have been so excited to upgrade to the camera- mainly looking forward to using the 200 zoom for spring sports, but think I will opt for buying the lenses only and keep my 3 year old D50 and keep my fingers crossed that it holds out. Unless I find out my camera is somehow defective (going to Wolf camera today to investigate) I plan to return the package. I also was disappointed in the range of the 18-55 lens. I was much happier with my 28-80mm for everyday use and will explore my options with maybe spending a little more on a single mid-range lens, vs 2 separate lenses. Still love the super zoom for sports, but just can't do without those precious close ups from across the room when I need them...

Overall I gave the camera 1 star because I would prefer my $100 point and shoot Nikon over this pricey DSLR.

That said, I will continue to use this site for my purchases, they have been very helpful in the 4 purchases I've made from them and love their prices.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

After waiting for years to purchase a DSLR after a intermediate level of experience with film, I finally went for it a few weeks ago and bought this Nikon D60 outfit! The two lenses in this package each have vibration reduction and auto-focus and are manufactured by Nikon, which are things to watch for when you're considering and comparing the various DSLR packages available.

I took the camera for a test drive during the holidays and captured tons of great shots of family (especially kids) using both the 18-55 and 55-200 lenses. I've also experimented with some macro shots, shots with and without the flash in bright and dim lighting, and shots using several of the filters I purchased along with the camera. I look forward to April, when I can head out to the garden to document everything growing and blooming and buzzing.

I am VERY happy with the comfort and easy-of-use of the D60 and lenses. I smile when I think about it! The learning curve is a bit steep because the camera is so powerful, but I quickly learned the basics and have been adding new features to my repertoire every day. Every little thing about this camera and the lenses is rock-solid.

Such an amazing deal! You not only get the camera and the 18-55mm lens, the 55-200mm is also included! For the money you'd shell out for a more expensive camera, that would more than likely just be the body, you get the camera & 2 lenses. I liked the option to upgrade the 55-200mm lens to a VR for a little more. There are a lot of extra things that are included as gifts too!

This was my first digital SLR, I couldn't have asked for a better camera/lens combo for my budget! I love this camera to death, but the only problem is having to constantly change lenses for my different shooting environments. I suggest you save your money and buy the Nikkor 18-200mm VR if you want really excellent photos and very very little lens changing. Oh and I outgrew this camera relatively quickly, so if you think you will be serious photographer, and can spare some money, I would get a used d80. Although for parents wanting to take their kids soccerphotos, thisis an EXCELLENT choice.

Debated for weeks over this choice, and so far, we love it. With a large family and scrapbooking as a hobby, we needed a camera with more versatility and higher quality than a standard point and shoot. It is heavier than I thought it would be, and not as well balanced with the lens on as the Canon when I compared them in the stores, but still fits well in the hand and am getting used to it. Never having used an SLR before, there's much we don't know, and it is sometimes overwhelming, but Nikon's automatic options made our initial uses of the camera less intimidating. Now each time we use it, we play with the options more and learn something new. So far am very pleased with it and think it was a great choice for our needs.
