Super SteadyShot Image Stabilization - Built-in technology moves the image sensor in response to camera shake, enabling every lens to benefit from automatic blur reduction -- and provides an advantage of up to 4.0 shutter speed steps to sharpen images in lower light, for hand-held shots that would normally require a tripod.

Bionz Image Processor - At the heart of the a (alpha) DSLR-A700 DSLR camera is the advanced Sony Bionz Image Processor, using hardware-based Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuitry that improves camera response time, screens out noise before RAW data conversion, handles Dynamic Range Optimization processing and prolongs battery life.

Dynamic Range Optimizer - To recover details in dark or bright areas of the picture, the a (alpha) DSLR-A700 provides multiple levels of Dynamic Range Optimization: Standard mode, to improve shadow detail using standard gamma curves; Advanced Auto mode, allowing you to select any of 5 DRO correction levels, or DRO Advanced Bracketing, that automatically takes three shots at different DRO levels with a single shutter press.

Continuous 5 Frames-Per-Second Advance at 12.24 MP - The high-speed processing power of its Bionz engine, a quick-response coreless motor to drive the shutter, and dual mirror stoppers to prevent mirror bounce -- they all enable the a (alpha) DSLR-A700 to capture action more effectively at either 5 or 3 frames per second, even shooting at full 12.24 MP resolution. You can also shoot continuously to the limit of available memory in JPEG Fine and Standard modes.

Advanced Pentaprism Viewfinder - With a bright focusing matte, an optical glass prism and glass lenses that prevent ghosts inside the finder, the a (alpha) DSLR-A700's viewfinder image makes it easier to see your subject, compose your shot and adjust focus manually.

Eye-Start Autofocus System - The a (alpha) DSLR-A700 begins its precision autofocus adjustments the moment you bring your eye to the viewfinder -- so you'll be ready to catch the perfect moment.

Quick Setting Recall - The C button allows you to make changes more quickly by calling up Creative Style settings, Exposure compensation, Flash compensation and many more operating modes and camera functions.

Stamina Power - To give you confidence for long shooting sessions in the field, the a (alpha) DSLR-A700 can take up to 650 shots3 on a fully charged NP-FM500H InfoLithium battery -- with indication in percentage of about how much battery power remains.

Built-In Flash - The a (alpha) DSLR-A700 flip-up flash covers a wide focal range, synchronizes at 1/250 sec., supports red-eye reduction and slow flash features as well as manual flash mode to set flash intensity. A wireless flash signal is available for external flash synchronization.

Anti-Dust Technology - Changing lenses in a DSLR can allow dust to enter the camera -- so to help keep the CMOS imager cleaner for better pictures, the a (alpha) DSLR-A700 utilizes both static-free anti-dust coating on the CCD filter and anti-dust vibration that automatically shakes the CCD to dislodge dust each time the camera is shut off.

Rugged Magnesium Alloy Body - The a (alpha) DSLR-A700 is built to very high standards of durability and performance -- so you can shoot on location in difficult conditions with confidence that your equipment can handle the challenge.

Comments about Sony Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 K Camera w/18-70 Zoom Lens:

Moving up every 2 years from the Minolta D5 to the Alpha a700 showed me that you get what you pay for. The Sony a700 is really a great camera for the price. I was only limited by what I knew, not by the camera. The camera needs a good lens to really show its stuff. I will be looking to the a900 this summer. Sony will be right there with Cannon and Nikon from now on.

Comments about Sony Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 K Camera w/18-70 Zoom Lens:

This is an AMAZING Camera!!! I am a Custom Knife Maker and Knives are VERY HARD to Photograph. I first tried MANY different Non SLR Digitals. Then I purchased a Nikon D40. It was a definite upgrade but still not quite what I needed. A friend recommended an a200. I went to local Ritz to look at one and opted for the a700. And I am so glad I did. This Camera Takes AWESOME Pix!!! The button layout is a tad confusing AT FIRST but after using it for a month now that is NO Problem. I use a 400X UDMA CF Card and I took some pix of seagulls in flight and this baby pumped out 30+ shots, BAM BAM BAM in less than 10 seconds. SHARP, CRYSTAL CLEAR, FLAWLESS shots EVERY SINGLE ONE!!! SAY NO MORE;~)

Comments about Sony Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 K Camera w/18-70 Zoom Lens:

I like the High Dynamic Range feature, which allows details in dark areas of otherwise brightly lit subjects. In the sample photo, without HDR the carrier would be dark and without detail.
Excellent LCD for review and settings info.
Excellent and fast focus with older Maxxum and compatible lenses.

I simply love this camera.. It is everything I had hoped for and more. The only thing that would make it better is owning more lenses for versatility. But, the good thing is, with the A700, I've already got the best camera, and lenses will come in time.

Comments about Sony Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 K Camera w/18-70 Zoom Lens:

I am an event and portrait photographer and was looking to upgrade my KM 7d. This camera produces very crisp pictures, the LCD is large and bright, there are a ton of useful features and presets, very user friendly. It doesn't hunt and search the way the 7d did. I have been able to produce perfectly exposed images in low-light hand-held with no flash and little to no noise. The kit lens performs well.

Comments about Sony Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 K Camera w/18-70 Zoom Lens:

After owning Minolta and KM products for years I up graded my KM 7D to this product. At first I was not pleased with the impact of the higher resolution. It was not what I expected from doubling the sensor size. After additional thoughts, calculations and testing you come to realize that doubling the pixel count will be just noticeable on any camera. You really need it to quadruple before the pixel count becomes a big issue. What this camera does is improve the capability to resolve fine detail through 14 bit AD conversion vs. 12 bit (that is 4 times the dynamic range) and adding DRO (dynamic range optimization). What does that mean to you? I'll tell you... it improves the ability to resolve fine details in the shadows without blowing out the highlights. Add to that the very low noise at higher speeds and you will find yourself being able to take wonderful detailed shots at times you never could before. Add the faster AF response and burst speed to the mix and you have a camera capable of tracking kids, sports, nature and other moving targets. Want to change your settings? Sony did a wonderful job of improving menue navigation and retaining the important external comtrols of the KM 7D that Pro's and Am's alike loved. Let's face it... life does not stand still and this camera along with the AS feature allows you to capture the candid shots you you wanted and life as you see it not as you pose it.
