Comments about Samsung S73 Digital Camera (Red):

This is a neat little camera that does does all that most of us require. It takes great picts and is easy to use.
The problem that comes up is that the camera just quits. It will not open, screen is black, it "blings" three times and shuts down. This did happen to me, but I think I have figured it out.
The camera seems to be very sensitive and if you get the lens the least bit Off Kilter, the alignment seems to be messed up. I'm just a 59 yr old mom/grandma that takes lots of picts, so overlook the lack of technical terms & descriptions. Take the camera and tap each end of it very lightly. If the lens is in protruded position, then gently take your fingers and very slightly push from side to side.
Once things are aligned back properly the camera will resume working. Mine has been working since my "repairs" and I've even dropped the camera and my 4 yr old granddaughter has played with it.
The other suggestions, that others gave to me, were to go in to Menu and turn off all features you don't need, such as sound, etc. And for most shots, set in the lowest setting like 1m.
Others thought switching from reg batteries to rechargable ones caused problem. Not so. I use rechargable batteries and keep two for backup with me at all times, so I am prepared when battery does down.
I do wish Samsung would correct this problem or at least get word out that the problem can be solved and not let the negative reviews determine future of this great little camera.

When my S73 was working properly, I was pleased with its photo and video quality. It was nothing spectacular; but you're going to run into a whole bunch of disappointment, if you're expecting spectacular results from a [$] camera. Unfortunately, my S73 would shut itself down, sometimes leaving the lens extended and exposed. Sometimes it would shut itself down due to "battery low." Those times, it would actually display "battery low" and beep a few times and then shut itself off. The other times, there was no warning at all. I know very well that the batteries could not possibly have been drained, because it happened after mere minutes of operation. I did change the batteries, anyway, to no avail. Other than those flaws, this camera was awesome, factoring the price. I decided to return it to the store rather than taking it up with the manufacturer; because Samsung would have offered to repair or replace it (ideally), neither of which I wanted. I wanted an entirely different camera from an entirely different manufacturer, after an experience like that.

What a wonderful camera. Compact in the way it is built but for the price packs a powerful punch. Nothing is better than this. Small enough to fit into a purse or pouch. PERFECT FOR ANYONE!!
