The Nikon D90 Digital SLR is a 12.3-megapixel DX-format camera paired the 5.8x AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AND Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S Zoom-Nikkor lenses with VR image stabilization and legendary NIKKOR optical quality.

Fusing 12.3-megapixel image quality inherited from the award-winning D300 with groundbreaking features, the D90's breathtaking, low-noise image quality is further advanced with EXPEED image processing. Split-second shutter response and continuous shooting at up to 4.5 frames-per-second provide the power to capture fast action and precise moments perfectly, while Nikon's exclusive Scene Recognition System contributes to faster 11-area autofocus performance, finer white balance detection and more. The D90 delivers the control passionate photographers demand, utilizing comprehensive exposure functions and the intelligence of 3D Color Matrix Metering II. Stunning results come to life on a 3-inch 920,000-dot color LCD monitor, providing accurate image review, Live View composition and brilliant playback of the D90's cinematic-quality 24-fps HD D-Movie mode.

Nikon Digital SLR Image Quality
Exceptional image quality is a prerequisite for all Nikon D-SLRs, and the D90, featuring a new 12.3-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, fulfills that essential performance requirement with ease. Borrowing a host of technologies, including low-noise, high ISO performance, from the award-winning D300, the D90 will change the notion of what's expected from an enthusiast D-SLR.

New D-Movie Mode Features 720p HD Cinematic Quality
The D90's creative potential explodes with the capability to record smooth 24fps, motion JPEG sound movie clips. Leveraging the D90's 12.3-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, legendary NIKKOR optical quality and the one-button Live View function, the D-Movie Mode gives still photographers a new and exciting way to express themselves in 720p HD.

Comprehensive Feature Set
Compact, yet powerful, the D90 captures up to 4.5 images per second. Accurate 11-point autofocus is now even faster and more intelligent, aided by Nikon's exclusive Scene Recognition System. The unique Nikon 420-pixel 3D Color Matrix II Metering system, now enhanced by EXPEED image processing technologies, delivers extraordinary exposure accuracy-immediately evident when reviewing images on the D90's super-density 3-inch 920,000-dot color LCD monitor.

These are just a few of the highlights that make the Nikon D90 the Nikon D90. The more you learn about the D90, the more you will agree that it offers more of what today's passionate enthusiasts demand - delivering it all in a D-SLR that exceeds expectations.

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm V3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens
Compact and versatile, the 5.8X AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens is an ideal everyday companion for the 12.3-megapixel D90. Available as the optical heart of the new D90 Outfit and individually, the 18-105mm with VR image stabilization, ED glass and an aspherical element, delivers the image integrity that defines NIKKOR optics.

The high-powered 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor lens - (4.3x) - featuring Nikon's Enhanced Vibration Reduction (VRII) technology is ideal for sports, wildlife, travel and portrait photography, among other telephoto applications. It incorporates many of Nikon's most advanced lens design attributes such as Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass, Silent Wave Motor technology (SWM) and Enhanced Vibration Reduction (VR II), in a design engineered for use with both Nikon DX format digital and 35mm film SLR cameras. With a high-powered 70-300mm focal length range, the lens is ideal for sports, action, wildlife, travel and portrait photography, among other telephoto applications. When used on a Nikon DX format digital SLR, this lens approximates the picture angle performance of a 105-450mm lens on a 35mm SLR camera.

Beyond the lens' incredible optical versatility is the benefit of Enhanced VR II Vibration Reduction -- an innovation that makes it possible to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible. This provides the distinct advantage of being able to shoot more effectively in a much broader variety of challenging conditions. With the new Nikon VR II advantage, users can take pictures at shutter speeds as many as 4 stops slower* than they ordinarily could shoot without the image degrading blur associated with camera shake at slow shutter speeds. Nikon's advanced VR technology further enhances picture taking potential with a choice of two modes to match most shooting conditions. VR Normal Mode primarily compensates for camera shake, and includes automatic panning detection, as well as automatic tripod detection. VR Active Mode effectively compensates for vibration in situations where it is more pronounced and more frequent, such as when shooting from a moving vehicle.

To further ensure outstanding optical performance, the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor features two Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements and three complex aspherical lens elements that provide for higher resolution, high-contrast images while minimizing chromatic aberration, astigmatism and other forms of distortion. The lens also features Nikon's compact Silent Wave Motor technology (SWM), which combines fast and precise autofocusing with super-quiet operation, as well as Internal Focusing (IF) construction that allows the lens to focus without changing its external size, improving balance and handling characteristics.

Quite possibly the best decision we've ever made. The camera is wonderful. There are a lot of settings that will take time to master, but more settings is more room for creativity. The 18-105mm lens is wonderful for general, everyday use for up-close and semi-distant shots. The 70-300mm lens is amazing. We use it to shoot many, many different far away objects but especially deer and the moon.

Though it's the first time I used the DSLRs, it is not difficult for me to use the D90 to take difficult kind of beautiful pictures under different light conditions.
