Comments about Nikon Nikon D5100 DX-Format Digital SLR Camera Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 AF DX & 55-300mm VR f/4.5-5.6G):

I often shoot pictures at locations where flash is not allowed, or would be inappropriate. Or where flash just wouldn't work because of distance involved (subject of interest is either too close to the camera or too far from the camera). I had been using an advanced point-and-shoot from another company for about four years, and was extremely pleased with its f2.8, 35-420mm zoom range – but its high-ISO low-light capabilities were limited. For countless months, I scoured every review of new cameras, both APS and dSLR, looking for an affordable (sub $1000) camera with useable images at ISO 400 or higher. Sure, the top of the line dSLRs from every manufacturer would fit my needs, but would drain my bank account! When the D5100 came out, I couldn't believe it! The specs were too good to be true at thie price – so I went to the local [...] and tried it out. ISO 400, ISO 800, ISO 1600, and even maxed it out – every image had less noise than my previous camera at ISO 200. I examined the photos at high magnification, looking at the noise. Re-read the review at [@] and then went to [...] the next day and bought the D5100! Over a month has passed, and I have not regretted that decision.
