Nikon introduces the new D60 digital SLR camera, to provide stunning picture quality and versatility in an easy-to-use, compact camera design. The New D60 Digital SLR joins Nikon's award-winning line of D-series digital SLR cameras and shares a form similar to the D40 ? Nikon's smallest D-SLR camera ever. With 10.2 effective megapixels and a wealth of innovative and user-friendly features, the D60 enables both photo enthusiasts and those new to digital SLR photography to capture incredible images like never before.

  • Bright, 2.5-Inch Color LCD Monitor with 170-Degree Wide-Angle Viewing
  • Nikon's Smallest Digital SLR Ever!
  • Automatic Exposure with 8 Digital Vari-Program Scene Modes
  • In-Camera Editing Functions

Users will immediately appreciate the D60's fast 0.18-second start-up time and split-second shutter response, which combine to eliminate the frustration of shooting lag ? a common issue with many point-and-shoot digital cameras. With a fast and accurate autofocus and the ability to shoot continuously at up to three pictures-per-second, the D60 faithfully captures pictures that other cameras often miss. The D60 does all this while delivering extraordinarily vivid and detailed pictures, ensuring that fleeting expressions, special moments and memorable events are captured beautifully.

Packaged with Nikon's new AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR image stabilization lens, the D60 camera and lens outfit delivers striking image sharpness. What's more, Nikon's proprietary VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization technology also dramatically reduces blur caused when shooting handheld pictures, especially in low light.

The camera's 10.2 megapixel CCD sensor delivers crisp, high-resolution images with astounding color and clarity, while Nikon's advanced 3-D Color Matrix Metering II ensures that images are exposed beautifully and automatically, even in challenging lighting conditions. Additionally, Nikon's new digital image processing concept, EXPEED, delivers smooth tones and accurate color for vibrant pictures and flattering portraits.

The D60 also offers consumers comprehensive in-camera functionality, such as Active D-lighting. Through this innovative Nikon feature, the camera can, with the option selected, further optimize shadow and highlight detail?as pictures are taken. Shots that once required adjustment with photo editing software can now go straight to the printer, bypassing the computer altogether.

For added fun and creativity while reducing or helping to eliminate time spent manipulating pictures later, the D60's In-camera Retouch Menu enables users to accomplish a wide variety of tasks without a computer. The D60 offers new in-camera editing capabilities, including adjustable cross-screen star effects, color-intensifying filters as well as D-lighting, Red-eye correction, Image Trim and more. The D60's Stop-Motion Movie mode is a D-SLR first that enables users to create stop-animation movie clips from a series of as many as 100 consecutive JPEG picture files. More experienced photographers will also enjoy shooting in the lossless NEF (RAW) format, and then adjusting image parameters, such as size, format, and white balance, all within the camera.

While many cameras now feature a dust cleaning function, the D60 takes this idea one step further. In addition to offering an Image Sensor Cleaning function that quickly and silently shakes off specks of image degrading dust, the camera also minimizes the dust that can come into contact with the sensor through a unique Airflow Control System. This design works to channel particles away from the sensor with every click of the shutter, resulting in even further reduction of dust particles and the spots they can leave on pictures.

Ergonomically designed with intuitively placed controls, the D60 is a camera that's compact and ready to go wherever life leads. It also features a new power conserving Eye Sensor that turns the big 2.5-inch color LCD monitor on and off automatically when the user alternates between taking pictures and reviewing camera settings.

A customizable LCD monitor user interface rounds out the D60's convenient features, as users can create their own wallpapers and adjust color settings to adapt to their preferences. The D60's design also supports Eye-Fi memory card functionality, enabling the convenient wireless transfer of images from the D60 to a computer, when using Eye-Fi memory cards.* Additionally, photos can be securely written to readily available SD cards, high-capacity SDHC cards and Eye-Fi memory cards, offering users a range of data storage options.

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR Lens
Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR Lens offers Nikon's proprietary Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to help consumers snap sharper photos than ever before, even while shooting handheld. Compact and lightweight, this affordable lens is an optimum lens to use with Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras and is the ideal focal length as a first lens to faithfully capture life's day-to-day moments, or a welcome addition to a Nikon D-SLR photographer's already-established lens assortment.

From family gatherings to sunny vacation beaches, the NIKKOR 18-55mm VR lens produces stunning results with vivid color and incredible sharpness. The 3x optical zoom offers users of Nikon DX-format D-SLR cameras including the D40, D40x, D80 and new D300 with a versatile picture angle perspective ranging from wide angle for dramatic landscapes and interiors, to moderate telephoto that is ideal for flattering portraits.

Beyond the lens' incredible optical versatility is the amazing benefit of Nikon's VR technology, which enables photographers to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds than would otherwise be possible. This provides the distinct advantage of being able to shoot more effectively in a much broader variety of challenging conditions. Nikon's VR system affords users the ability to take pictures at shutter speeds up to three stops slower* than they ordinarily could shoot without the image-degrading blur caused by camera shake at slow shutter speeds.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

I was very please with the fact that I got to get the camera, a bag, 2 lenses, and even 2 DVDs for the price that I paid! I was very satisfied with that! As for the camera, this is my first Dslr and I'm very please with it! I plan to start photography school soon and I think that this is the camera to get me started! I'm learning still but I really like what I've gotten out of it so far. The only problem I think I'll have with it is having to go through the menu to find the white balance setting but that will be later on when I'm actually messing with that! I think the camera takes great pictures and the lenses that come with it are PERFECT! I'm not going to need anything else for awhile! I'd like to eventually get a flash and I'm glad I'll be able to do that sooner now that I bought this all packaged together and can jump right to other accesories I'd like to get.
I love how small and light weight the D60 is. I'm a petite person and I have small hands so I think it's perfect for me, anything else could easily have been to large and bulky.
The DVDs were pretty informative and I learned a bit from them. Most I already new but anyone just starting out would get a lot of use out of them.
The one that is strictly about the D60 is good in that it helps you get your camera going so it's smart to pop that in right whenever you get your camera out before you even turn it on!
All in all I think this was a great buy and I'm very pleased with it.

I bought this camera a little over a month ago as my first dslr. I found it easy to use and navigate to change settings in manual on the fly. All the settings except the ISO are easily accesed with on the body button combinations. The ISO can be changed easy-to-find sub-menu. The two lenses are both excellent. The controls are easy to pick up in general and the picture quality is superb.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Two-Lens VR Outfit (18-55 VR & AF-S DX VR 55-200mm F4-5.6G):

This is my first digital SLR camera. The body controls and lenses are very easy to use.

This outfit is a great deal because it includes both the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55MM F/3.5-5.6G VR lens and Nikon 55-200 mm F/4 5.6G ED-IF AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor lens. The zoom lens is a must have for portraits and nature photography.

Startup is very fast and you can shoot continuously at up to 3 frames per second.

The built-in flash is okay for the majority of photos, but more than likely even a casual user will want to eventually upgrade to a more advanced flash.

The DVDs are also a great resource to help you unlock the more advanced features of the camera to take even better pictures.

I am a disabled vet and cannot most of the things I loved to do. I have always been a creative person and photography sounded like a great thing to get into that I could still do. I started with what I thought was a great digital camera but soon got bored with its limitations...I no longer have that problem. so far with the D60 I haven't found any. Everyday I wake-up and learn something new about my camera and can't wait to try it out. I know this sounds trivial but I have found something to be excited about again and it takes my mind off of my pain. I can't wait to take the classes that I'm enrolled for so I can learn more about my Nikon D60 and the Nikon software that came with it.

My wife wanted a DSLR to take picture of our son after he was born. This bundle was all I needed to get started. Although my wife wanted to get this but I ended up using it more. Can't wait to try different options, all I'm using now is auto and kid/pet mode. With VR, I can take a picture in low light without using a flash to capture him sleeping like an angel - he is a very light sleeper.

This is my first dslr camera and this one fits my budget. The size of the camera fits my hand perfectly. The d60 takes great pictures, nothing compared to the point and shoot cameras I had before. The DVDs that came with it is very informative. The menu screen is very easy to learn. I also like retouch mode in the camera. This camera is hands down the best dslr for the money because of the feature it has. The only thing that I do not like is that it does not have its own motor and relies on lenses with af-s to autofocus and af-s lenses tend to be more expensive than other.

I had a Nikon D40 for a year until my daughter fell in love with it and offered to purchase it. At that point I upgraded to the D60 with it's larger pixels and smaller body. It's too early to make a profound judgement but, so far, I am very happy with its ease of use and quality of photos. The lenses are amazing both in quality and portablility. The bag supplied fits everything perfectly. I also use this cameras professionally for family and wedding work.

Will be using it for basketball when that season rolls around also. Extremely happy so far with the D60 and its results.

It's been decades since I was a photography buff, but with the Nikon D60, it's like getting back in the proverbial saddle, except it's so much easier than it was decades ago. The camera coupled with the lenses give the casual picture taker and the enthusiast a tremendous amount of flexibility. The capabilities of the D60 are dizzying. It's going to be a joy learning my way around it. So far, it's nothing but fun, fun and more fun. The pix are gorgeous, better than those I've taken with any other digital camera. Now, if I can just save up for all the extras I want... . [...]

this is an all around unit I use when traveling, about the house or if someone wants party shots and portraits done. I am into the nite sky so I use it with my telescope or along with it. I'm amazed how easy this setup is. the "VR" lens are the best. Fast and dead-on. Reason I've bought this is because of its light weight , the name "Nikon" that has a great reputation and the Kit with the 2 lens is just what you need. When I do bird shots it's fast and very seldom does it take a blurry shot where I have to delete it. Reason I say that is because I have hand shake and this VR system takes care if that - no problem at all .This is such a great buy - yes, get it you won't be sorry

This is my first step into the DSLR world and Nikon has made it so easy! I haven't had time to read the manual much, but have been able to figure out most of the dials and buttons. I'm only bummed I didn't wait just a tad longer for the good deal they have now (2 lens kit both with VR). It is an awesome deal!
