I admit, I was impressed with this camera and its price. Unfortunately, after taking reasonable care by putting it in a protected camera case and then carefully placing it in my carry on luggage, the back screen has shattered. [...] Nikon should have engineering look at the thin glass on their big screen.

I had done some research and thought that this was a good camera for my adult daughter who wanted to use it to take pictures of friends, weddings, travel etc. I gave it to her as a Christmas present and she went to use it 5 weeks later at a wedding and the flash wouldn't work. Now I have to go throught the hassle of sending it back but at least it's still under warranty.

Read the easy to use manual and your ready to take pictures in 10 minutes. Quick charge of battery makes this a great travel companion.
Compact design, and minimal distance focusing
(1.2 inches) makes it a great camera for emergency scene photos, and for photographic evidence inventory. Durability and ease of use is so good, I got one for my twelve year old photo enthusiast granddaughter for Christmas!

I have not had a single problem with this camera!
I have only had it for a few weeks, but I have taken some beautiful sunset pictures, pictures of the outside of my house at night with the Christmas lights on, pics of ivy covered in frost, my cat, myself, my husband, my friends, Christmas cookies, all sorts of things!- and I've been able to get excellent results!
There are lots of different settings to choose from, and you can manually change the flash settings as well. I recommend taking time to play with the camera's settings so you know ahead of time which ones are optimal in each situation.
One of its features is image stabilization- I got a crisp, clear picture of the hills dusted with snow from a moving car! Another useful feature is that camera will also ask you if someone blinked, so you know if you need to retake a picture of a group. I also love that you can zoom in on a pic you've taken so you can be sure the things you want are in focus, & you can "crop" the image and save it in the camera.
I find it sturdy and versatile. I am super accident prone, and I dropped the camera while it was in its case, and it stayed in the case and didn't get a scratch on it and still works just fine.
I love it so much I am recommending it to my dad who is looking for a camera for my mom for Christmas.
