Take Face Detection with you and bring home every smile!

The Finepix F45fd's most advanced yet easy to use function is Fujifilm Face Detection Technology, a new feature designed to significantly improve your picture taking by identifying human subjects' faces in the frame (up to 10 faces) and in real time, determining the optimal focus and exposure settings for the absolute best results possible in any shooting conditions. Behind Fujifilm's Face Detection technology is a newly developed LSI chip combined with patented software that allows the FinePix F45fd digital still camera to reach a level of performance in digital photography never before possible.

The Finepix F45fd also showcases 8.3 MegaPixel Super CCD-HR quality, a 3.0x Optical Zoom and ultra-fast processing speeds so you never miss a photo opportunity. The large 2.5 LCD makes it easy to playback and share your special moments with family and friends. And, with the Li-ion battery power, your camera is always ready to go.

The small but mighty FinePix F45fd incorporates FujiFilms proprietary technological advances such as Real Photo Technology, Picture Stabilization and the newly introduced Intelligent Flash (i-Flash) system, raising the bar once again for capturing blur-less pictures with every nuance of light and vivid, rich color. Even in low light situations, you get all the picture perfect details.

The FinePix F45fd utilizes an ultra-high sensitivity of up to ISO 2000 at full resolution, with incredibly high signal to noise ratio, and faster shutter and operational speeds, to deliver virtually blur free images where conventional digital cameras cannot.

With a combination of the high quality 8.3 MP Super CCD sensor, Face Detection technology, High ISO of up to 2000, and all the other great Fujifilm Finepix exclusive features and technologies, the Finepix F45fd will definitely capture all your pictures with ease and precision.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

There is more to a camera's performance than just the number of megapixals. All cameras do well outdoors. The real test is low light performance. This camera blows away my Sony T100 for indoor picture quality for less than 1/2 the price. The Fuji has a really cool mode that takes two pictures in quick succession, one without flash and one with. This captures the 'moment' and you can choose later which photo looks best. The anti blur feature also works very well.
Power up is quick and first picture time is less than one second.
I started looking at DSLRs to get improved low light performance but once I saw this camera in action, I was sold. Granted, it's not the same as a full DSLR, but it's close and it fits in my pocket.

This is a great camera for low noise. It doesn't perform as well as the f31 but you can't get the f31 anymore. I didn't even know you can get these. There are some other good choices for around the same price and for much more. I wrote a one page write up listing the best low noise cameras. Go to findbesttech in your browser for some good choices.

I bought this camera as a replacement for a film slr that I had for years. Of course the quality is not the same. However I really enjoyed being able to drop it in my pocket and hold 6 pictures at a time! In my opinion it takes better pictures than most cameras its size and price. I am getting one for my Dad for Christmas since his Sony just died.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

The Fuji F31fd was great however I hate the xD card. This F45fd is the same as a F40fd which supports SDHC card after the firmware update. The great thing is, Ritzcarmera is selling it at a lower price than other F40fd models.

I use a 8GB SDHC Class 6 card. The high ISO performance may not be as good as F31fd, however once you set the camera with 4M picture quality, ans M mode with Auto ISO (400), the output will be very good.

I have other P&S cameras like Panasonic and Canon models below $300, they cannot compare to the F45fd in picture quality. I have my Pentax DSLR, but it's not always possible to carry it anywhere anytime. So I put the F45fd in my pockets everyday. That feels good.

Did I mention the outdoor pictures very sharp and real? This labor day weekend I used it on my Long Island fishing trip. People saw the pictures and asked me which camera I used, if it is the DSLR. Well, this F45fd is the wonder.

I give it the 4 star rating because of the low light performance at ISO 800 and above. It's definitely better than other brands but a little bit worse than F31fd.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

Lots of good modes with screen explanations.
The size is ideal to carry in my shirt pocket not too small and not too large. It is slightly difficult to grab / turn the Mode dial -- I use my thumb nail to catch the seriated edge.
I used the camera at my grandaughter's areana graduation and its internal telephoto lens along with the ability to set the sensitivity to a high ISO gave me better pictures than with my large digital SLR and its large telephoto lens.
Picture sizes do not conform to standard 4x6 size but can be easily re-sized or cropped to fit with maybe one edge with a slim white border. Bright light behind you hitting the screen makes it difficult to see the picture on the screen use a hood or large hat when outdoors.

This is a great camera! For the price you can't beat it - easy to use, nice size, big LCD and zoom options. I like the face recognition and how the camera adjusts automatically to accomodate different lights levels. Very point-and-click but with advanced features and setting too if you want them.
The only thing I don't like is the delay between pushing the button and taking the picture - I have a baby that is hard to capture! But its better than my last camera and for the price I can not compain!

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

I think my camera is actually an f47d, which I think is the English equivalent. I bought the f47d to replace an [...] f10 that turned out to have been abused. I bought the used f10 to replace an f30 that had developed a sticky shutter button. I bought the f30 to replace an f10 I dumped in a lake. In case it isn't obvious, I REALLY like the 6.3 MP SuperCCD. Unfortunately, that sensor appears to be history, so I went for the next best thing. The f47d has the same responsive performance, same accurate color, same sharpness that I've seen in all my previous Fujis, and while the low-light performance isn't up those systems, it is still better than anything else in its size/price range. One big difference I've found is that whereas I could use my previous Fujis with one hand (while riding a bicycle), the f47d is so chock-full of buttons that you can't pick it up without hitting one of them. An additional problem that the f47d shares with its predecessors, is the lack of a viewfinder, which makes use at the beach pretty difficult.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

i bought the F45fd to replace my aging canon S410. there was a rebate and a free printer, which made this a great bargain.

overall, i'm happy with the camera. it's light years beyond the S410, and good enough for casual use.

pros: the face detection works nicely. AF is faster than my S410 (not as fast as a DSLR). colors and sharpness are good. high ISO is much cleaner than the S410, but again not as good as a DSLR.

cons: noise reduction is ALWAYS on and pictures have that look you get from heavy-handed NR software.

Very easy to use, great quality pictures when compared to cameras hundrets of dollars more expensive. On-screen prompts for everything. When you switch any of the buttons, the screen actually displays in large letters as to what will happen when you move that switch in this position. Great feature, does away with the manual. I am in the beginning stages as to where I need glases to read a paper. I do not need glases to operate this camera, or make changes to the setting. I guess I am trying to say that this is a very userfriendly camera, and the pictures are superb. Not to mention the antishake feature. I am very happy.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

I take this camera when I can't take my DSLR with me. Its small size and good high ISO performance allows me to shoot in a variety of situations where a normal P&S wouldn't do so well. I accept that the camera lacks the manual controls that I'm used to on my DSLR. For casual use, my gripes with the camera would be the LCD screen which can be laggy/jerky if you prefer the Quick AF or Power Save mode instead of the Quick LCD mode. I'm just glad Fuji gave me the option of choosing a different mode that provided smoother LCD viewing. My other gripe would be the lack of an orientation sensor: all my portrait-oriented shots have to be rotated after the fact.

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

I bought this camera based on the reviews of it's low light performance. My other camera's are Canon S80 and Panasonic FZ7 so I do prefer camera's with manual adjustments. Of course these other camera's aren't so good at low light. Anyway I also hoped to use this as a small walk around that could take good candid's when I did my part.I was disappointed that the photo's all seem out of focus. Perhaps the F45 just tends to shoot soft? I'm not a big fan of PS sharpening because it tends to bring out more noise. I've tried changing modes on the focus but can't come up with any real improvement. It's bad enough that I won't risk a good picture opportunity with the F45.I now only use it for work so just document boring work stuff where quality isn't important. Even then the poor focus in macro mode really reduces it's effectiveness.[...]

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

The F45 is one of the few cameras which can actually produce DECENT 800ISO images (most will be noisy pushing 400ISO). I have shot with Canon A720, S5, SD850, Pan TZ5, Fuji F31, F50, etc. The F45 handles much like the great F31 with only slightly more noise over 400ISO. However it has better AWB and AE manners and I feel is a better all around travel camera. I've also shot with the F50 which suffers from too high MP count (more MP with the same sensor = more "grain" with low light -- more MP is not always good!). I say buy this while it's still offered!

Cons:
Image Quality, Too much Noise Reduction

Comments about FujiFilm FujiFilm FinePix F45fd Digital Camera:

Here's the issue. The Fuji F30/31 were awesome cameras for low light, high ISO performance. Fuji tried to continue that into the F40/F45 (both are identical cameras, the latter being exclusive through Ritz). The images, even at the lower ISO's have a texturing due to the heavy noise reduction being applied. Kind of a "painting" effect, and hazy edges. I'm hoping they put out a firmware upgrade to address this. To make this worse, in full "Auto", the camera will default to a high ISO. This really gives an image that leaves much to be desired, with, again, too much noise reduction. However, viewed small, they don't look too bad. Just don't expect to crop the picture much. You'll need the 8 megapixels to print that 4x6. Lots of things to like about the camera, but it's image quality that they get bought for.

Got this camera as a bday gift and WOW! I cant believe how easy the camera is to use. I love it! Easy to carry while traveling. I love the large LCD screen and how clear it is..almost better than my TV. I have been using all the settings and the pictures are better than with any other camera I have had.

My daughter had "another" camera and begged me to let her take my FinePix F45fd to Europe with her! I think I may have seen the last of it - she may NEVER give it back. She totally learned to use it in no time the night before she left the country and has been calling from Italy to tell me what a great camera it is. Well, she does have a birthday coming up...

good camera for price, even better at [$]. start up is quik, lots of options, battery life is great. videos are suprisingly smooth and also has sound. wish that it could support SDHC memory cards, and more manual control settings. can't beat the price for awesome point and shoot camera, i highly reccomend it!

I own two Nikon DSLRs and have been trying to find a small point and shoot that will do what I need it to when I need it to. This fits in my pocket, starts up very quickly, takes wonderful lowlight pictures, excellent party pictures and great landscapes. I'm impressed with every picture, and have had a lot of fun with this little camera.

I have just purchased this camera. I needed a camera that would fit easily into my pocket, but still take great photos. I am extremely excited about the incredibly short lag time for a camera this size. I have not found a small camera that takes quicker photos.

Overall very easy to use and full of very useful features. Battery life is amazing compared to another Fuji camera previously owned (4700). Only had to charge twice so far and have used for 3 months and taken hundreds of pictures.
