Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera w/EF-S 18-55 Lens:
I bought this camera for a trip across America, by train, and received it a few days in advance. It was my first DSLR and I put considerable research into the purchase. Frankly I was impressed. Despite the cons I had heard about, they were actually quite minimal and I was surprised by what I got for the price. Despite a lack of image stabilization on one of my lenses, and no IS built into the camera body itself, even at 75 out to 300mm zoom on the shaky train the T3i still turned out surprisingly sharp images on the right settings. It did have some issues with motion blurring sometimes, but even on the train it managed to get crisp still images. The motion blurring could be faulty settings on my part but I have heard rumors about the camera lacking in this department. Even so the train pictures came out well.
As a beginner I very much appreciated how little tinkering was required to find what those settings were, how fast I managed to find them, and how straight forward the menus and features were.
Needless to say I wasn't disappointed with the T3i and was in fact impressed by what it could do. Especially for the price. There are better cameras out there that are specialized, but considering the general applicability of the T3i and it's outstanding price I would say that it is definitely worth the investment and is a keeper. The video and audio quality were also superb and it was easy to use. Also the tilting and swiveling screen was more useful than expected.
There weren't any glaring flaws in this camera for me and my general uses. In fact it exceeded my expectations and offered features that I didn't even know I needed. I cannot say that it was perfect but it was without any major faults and, further, it seemed to well exceed its price tag in quality and performance.
Finally I was quite impressed with the 18-55mm kit lens. Kit lenses are notorious for their low quality but for the extra $99 it actually offered quite a lot and was a quality lens. I would go with this option were I to buy the camera again. I don't think I could have done better than the T3i all things considered. I am enthusiastic about this camera and it has been awhile since the purchase. Also friends of mine have taken a fancy to it, and have actively set out to invest in the T3i themselves. Further some of them are in the industry and were film majors with much more advanced equipment and more money and motivation to spend on higher quality cameras than myself. My experience with the T3i has been extremely positive. I've yet to get one negative comment about it or be frustrated with it.
That said, I would recommend a hands-on experience with it before buying. Also a review of the specs and obvious things of that nature. With all those things considered, this has been my personal experience with the T3i.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T3i Digital SLR Camera w/EF-S 18-55 Lens:
Buy an extra battery because you will end up shooting a lot more because it's a great camera. My T3i kit (stock lense) was delivered 3-29-2011 and I'm shooting my own Artwork Photography as I redecorate my walls. Having a blast creating videos for website. I am thinking about surprising a friend with one because they want one and cannot afford it. I really can't afford another one either but I like making others happy.
