I purchased this video camera for my Husband to use while hunting with our yellow lab. It is great to take along in your pocket, or your purse. Very easy to use.

I bought the Zi6 model last year and was pleased with the ease of use especially for my special ed. students. I have now bought the Zi8 for use at my school and continue to be pleased with the Kodak products. Easy to use, quick start up, lighter in weight with the Li-ion battery, charging the battery in the camera is a real plus for the teachers to just plug in the camera and wait the two hours and it's charged. There is also a light that goes out when it is fully charged so no guessing about how long to keep it on to be charged. Have had one problem with it locking up one time when deleting pictures off the camera (pictures that were on the drive not the SD card). The only way to 'unlock' the camera was to take the battery out. I hope this doesn't continue to be a problem.

The external mic input and the price were key points for me. The camera has performed above expectations. Being able to plug in a mic for decent audio puts it head and shoulders over the Flip. Couple minor nits: In low light you have to do some tweaking in the edit and shots out the window of a moving car were a bit blury.
Definitely recommend.

I agree with everything the previous reviewer said except abot night time filming. This camera does the best job in low light, night time settings and has a very bright light/flash. In fact if you read the reviews by CNET and others this camera beat all the other pocket video cameras. I was interested in the Flip Camera until I researched the Zi8, a much better choice. This camera is still sold out at most retailers but I am telling you it is worth the wait!

This is a great little video camera that also takes stills. You can take the video and replay it instantly to check it. The resolution is good and the viewing window is a nice size. It's small enough to carry in a pocket, or a very small camera bag. Quick to use--just point and shoot after a quick push of a button to turn on, no long "warm up" time. The multi use toggle button makes it easy to use with one hand, for multiple features, fast forward, replay, rewind, etc. We used the camera at Disneyland and it was so great to have the capacity for both stills and movies with only a tiny camera...so easy to carry and use! The only thing I see that I was a bit dissapointed about is that there is no flash for night use.
