Watched this video to learn some of the more advanced settings and features of my new Nikon D40. The video does explain the M, P, S and A settings and shows examples of some of the flash settings and effects achieved. I thought it went a little fast through the steps to get to the different menus. Otherwise a good intro video.

Nikon's DVD Understanding Digital Photography - Release Your Digital SLRs Potentional is an excellent presentation of the wonderful array of photo ops provided with an SLR digital camera. The great thing about the DVD is that it can be repeated in its entirety or chapter by chapter. Great for those of us who "lose" some things and need to be reminded. For me, this is not just a "see it once" DVD, it will be a constant resource as I learn to take quality pictures with my new Nikon digital SLR.

I would not say this DVD is the best starting point but it serves as a great reference. The content flow could have been better but am truly impressed with all the information Bob shares with us.

I would say first use your camera and owner's manual in conjunction to get you know your camera better before watching the DVD that would help you get going on with taking great pictures.

As a beginner in DLSR, the DVD is very helpful in introducing me to its controls, functions and features that are not found in point and shoot cameras I had been using before. However it would be nice if they could give more tips and hints rather than just the basics of SLR.

This is an informative DVD and the man who is the "teacher" has a lot of charisma. The only thing is it's kind of basic. If you are need to be taught some of the things in this DVD you might need to take a class to learn more.

I did have to get used to not seeing pictures on the screen as I took them but this camera is still great. Takes really quick pictures but keeps the quality while doing it! Battery life is awesome and zoom is even better.

This DVD is really helpfull. It explains clearly all the main features of the camera and when you would use different settings. I'm a begginer when it comes to photography and this DVD was really helpful in helping me understand how to use my new camera.

this is a great product where the person in the film actually takes you out and takes pics and he shows you what each and every thing does and how it effects the picture. my favorite thing is he gives great ideas to spice up the pictures from the mainstream pictures, which is what we are all looking for right...

Excellent DVD for new Nikon owners. The information is very useful and I put it in to practice right away. It helped me improve the qualit of my pictures by understanding more about the digital SLR. It's not a techno geek DVD where you have to know everything tere is to know to get anything out of it, it is presented as a common sense approach to the cameras. I can't say enough good things about my Nikon. This is simply the best camera I have ever owned and the DVDs were a good investment!

I find the camera easy to use and it gives me great quality pictures. I moved up from a different brand name Digital Camera. While it was good, I'm enjoying myself so much more. It is almost fun trying the many variations on picture taking & presentation.
There are more expensive cameras out there, but I think this D-40 is one 'heck' of a buy. You won't go wrong in stepping up to it.

I love my Nikon D80. Recently used on a road trip to New York City and another road trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. Plus I always love just taking snapshots around the house (like the one attached). This camera never lets me down with it's performance. I am "by far" NOT a professional, but was able to get some really awesome shots of the parade and firework shows in Disney at night time. Not to mention, the scenery pics taken in New York were great. My goal is to take classes so that I will be able to learn more about all its "Manual" features.
