Let me first say I do not consider myself a professional photographer, more of an enthusiast or hobbyist so even though I found this very educational to the camera savvy individual it might not be “new” information. This DVD helped me learn my way around my new camera. I typically figure new electronics out on my own, but I am so glad I purchased this along with my camera otherwise I'm positive there would be settings and applications I would still not know about. This DVD showed me the full potential of my camera. It does not tell you how to be a photographer, more of how to set up your camera to take the best possible pictures in various situations by taking full advantage of all settings and options. It has made me fall in LOVE with my camera because there is always something new to try out. The DVD had nice, easy to follow diagrams, examples, and definitions. The pace at which the demonstrator moved was not painfully slow nor frustratingly fast, in fact I only paused or rewound my DVD a couple times in order to really concentrate on remembering certain facts. After watching the video I shared things I had learned with a close friend who has had the Nikon D40x for years and never known about. Both the camera and the DVD have been excellent purchases, and I’m sure I will continue to watch it in the future as a “refresher” on how best to use my camera. The only con I can possibly think of is to say I wish the DVD would have explained a little more on "how to take photographs" instead of saying "this is how to have a slow shutter speed" more of "this is when you would want to use a slow shutter speed, with this type of ambiance" but I realize that comes from personal experience and perhaps a book/dvd geared more in that specific direction.

I've wanted to purchase this product for some time, but thought I'd try to figure out my DSLR on my own. After a year, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the DVD. I'm so glad I did! I learned more in 30 minutes than over the last 365+ days! The information is concise and the visuals are great. Definitely recommend for new DSLR users

This video tutorial is what anyone who is new to
DSLR cameras needs. This CD gives you information you might pass over in the manual. It is very easy to understand and follow with camera in hand. It even helps with features on point and shoot cameras. A lot easier than reading throught the manual.

This DVD really got me going with the D40X!! I would otherwise not understand this camera still. It is logical and very complete, moving from topic to topic. It is much more complete than a brief camera store course and far more helpful than the booklet Nikon provides. I was new to digital photography, though not to photography. This DVD explained the camera controls to me, the error messages and the differences between digital and film photography. It does not discuss photography theory; it's not meant to. But it covers the camera well. It might be too basic for the expert, but was a life-saver for a new digital owner! I would certainly recommend it for that purpose!
