No support from Nokia for this unit. Nokia may have purchased Navteq but the 5 million plus POI's are NOT on this unit. I found the same missing POI locations on this unit that I did on the TomTom One. Garmin has all the POI's that Navteq has released. I've even had a MIO c310x that had more POI's Nokia has no updates for this unit and no support on their website. Go to a store and try the demo unit. [...]

Comments about Nokia 500 4.3'' Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth - Limited Quantity, While Suppliers Last!:

I used this recently on a three days road trip, I didn't find any problems with the directions. The only thing I was disappointed with TTS is that it doesn't tell the cardinal directions. For example if you have to take 260 South. It just says "Take highway 260" but not "260 South". I had to look into the screen to figure out what direction to take. No issue with local street names.

Nokia 500 comes with a 2GB SD card. It doesn't have an internal memory. Maps are stored on the 2GB SD card that took up 1GB of space. With that you'll have 1GB to load songs/pictures/videos. If you plan to use this as audio/video player then you'll need to get a bigger SD card (supports upto 16GB). Maps can be loaded easily onto your new SD card.

FM transmitter works well. You can set upto 5 FM frequencies. I liked this feature, instead of having a pre-set frequencies, I could search for the one that has no broadcast and save it. FM transmitter gets deactivated after 1 min of inactivity (security reasons). But it's easy to activate it again, there's a button on the video player screen. Music volume slows down when directions are announced.

I haven't used Bluetooth, so can not say anything about it.

Video player worked fine. Note that navigation would be turned off when videos are played (May be a good thing).

Unit has a fixed battery and the battery is not replaceable. Battery time is good. I plugged in for a very few times on the road, mostly run on the battery. I felt that dash mount is big. I carried the device and placed it on dashboard.

One of the weird things is I switched off (stand by mode) the device while MP3 player was on and when I turned the device back on, device got reset. My recent addresses/home address everything were deleted.

Overall the product is good.

It's a great navtigation w/ phone bluetooth, mp3 and video sound through the car radio. It's a great deal compared to that cost of Garmin or other top leading brands.

For around [$] this unit is great, but there is no support from Nokia on this thing. Nokia hides it on their website. I doubt they we release any updates. Again it works fine for me now and for [$] it can be replaced after a couple of years if needed.

Comments about Nokia 500 4.3'' Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth - Limited Quantity, While Suppliers Last!:

Currently use to locate address within cities for work. Very accurate and good routing. Seems to recalculate and pick up alternate routes quickly. Text to speech function works well. Bluetooh nice feature but sound quality not the best.
Nokia seems to have spread out the menu settings making it a bit difficult to find what you need. Also have some trouble entering addresses for navigation or bookmarks. No dash mount but mounting brackett very steady and secure.
Biggest problem I have is poor battery life. Always needs charging.
Very good unit for price. Believe Garmin or TomTom easier to use.

Comments about Nokia 500 4.3'' Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth - Limited Quantity, While Suppliers Last!:

I have used this tool for city navigation and it has been giving pretty satisfactory directions when using the shortest route and the fastest route options. The device certainly keeps me entertained on my excursions with the available music player.
I must admit that sometimes the shortest route displayed may not be the shortest. I know by my experience of driving around the city that there are better options. FM stations do not seem to work.

Comments about Nokia 500 4.3'' Portable GPS Navigator with Bluetooth - Limited Quantity, While Suppliers Last!:

I absolutely love this unit! When I was searching for a navigation system, I didn't realize Nokia manufactured one. I was excited to find this unit mainly because I have a Nokia phone with bluetooth that is in my opinion, top notch. The GPS communicates wonderfully with my phone. The large touch screen size, MP3 player, video, and photo viewer are very impressive features included with this model. I love the way it downloaded my contacts from my phone and became the main source for making and receiving calls. The only problem I have with it is quick battery drainage. However, It comes with a car adapter for charging and continuous use.
