Its wider size offers you more design options. Measuring 5.5" x 6", each die in this 7-die Serif Essentials Alphabet Set showcases the upbeat style of noted Sizzix die artist E.L. Smith. Letters in this set measure approximately 2" tall. This alphabet set is designed for use only with the BIGkick and Big Shot machines (sold separately), and requires the use of a pair of Cutting Pads.

Just got these yesterday and am SOOO excited about them! This is the best price I have seen, and I have done a *lot* of researching and searching for the lowest price. I love that you can cut so many different materials - the possibilities are endless! And Sizzix has great quality products, so I am sure these will last for many, many years to come. These dies are good to monogram items or even use on signs and projects (cards, scrapbook pages, framed art, etc.).

Big Z dies are very useful for cutting shapes out of heavy card stock, chipboard, fabric, leather ~ the list goes on! Depending on the material you use, you can get several shapes out of one pass through your die cutting machine. I like to use this alphabet for monograms on cards or titles on scrapbook pages and posters.

The dies are extremely durable and are designed for many years of use. They producing sharp, clean cuts. This size die can be used in many of the die cuting machines on the market although I recommend the Big Shot.

The only drawback is the dies are bulky and hard to store. I imagine they are designed that way to withstand the pressure from the machine, so I can live with that flaw.

Sizzix "Original" dies - the thick dies that came out originally with the Sizzix machine (the pull down handle) are still the best valued dies around. They are the only dies that can cut through multiple sheets of paper, cardstock, chipboard, cork, thin magnet, fabric, felt and more!

I consider this alphabet set to be especially attractive for all-purpose use. While the dies themselves are bulky, they are heavy-duty and will last a long time. These are the same kind of dies I used in a school Ellison Die Cut Machine for many years.
